True Topper Slide Topper Alternative

Does anyone have experience with True Topper retrofit on Winnebago Class A Motorhome?

I saw the video too. I think you’ll find it’s a very new product that doesn’t have a lot of people that have experience with this at this point. The company is mostly working with Tiffin Motorhomes due to their existing relationship building seamless slide rooms for them.

I doubt you’ll find anyone here or even someone at a general RV website like IRV2 with direct experience.

Looks interesting, though! I’d love to not worry about high winds when camping. Occasionally we have to take slides in because of flapping slide toppers.

I gotta say, AZEspert really earns his endorsement money. I can foresee problems with an EPDM slide covering material after a few hundred passes of it rubbing on the material, and if a leaf stem gets caught under it the wear is accelerated.
Personally I like the cooling effect of a true awning material if parked in direct sun..

I'd be concerned about the mechanism that makes it lift for the slider's top flange when closing. Failure could cause a lot of damage. Additionally like windshield wiper blades, how often does the scraping edge need renewal.

I enjoy AZExpert's videos but sometimes he surprises me. Recently he's posted some videos on his new off-the-grid shop. His solar power system seems marginal at best and his panel location between two Quonset Hut-like structures seems pretty inefficient.

I understood the video to say that they actually remove the original top flange & make the top outer edge smooth.

One of my slide awnings holds a pool of water in the middle. It has never caused any problem. But it would be nice to replace it with a True Topper.

The top flange on my Adventurer’s living room slide must be 4 or 5 inches tall. I’m looking at it right now and I can’t imagine that being cut off.
