Towing a Minnie 2326RB with F-150

Hello there,

We currently have a Micro Minnie 2108TB (22 feet). It tows quite well behind our 2018 F-150 with the 5.0L engine. No issues maintaining 70mph on the highway, although I do feel it in the mountains for sure. Dry weight is about 4,100 lbs and GVRW is 5,500. With full propane, 2 batteries and our camping stuff, it probably tows at about 5,000 lbs

We are considering upgrading to a Minnie 2326RB (26 feet). It's about 4 feet longer, but the realistic towing weight jumps up to about 6,500 lbs. It's still well within limits for the truck according to the Ford towing site. The hitch weight on both of these trailers is similar. Strangely, the hitch weight on the bigger trailer is about 50 lbs lower. Maybe the wheels are positioned a bit further forward?

I know it should be fine, but if anyone tows this or a similar weight trailer with an F-150 5.0L, I'd be interested in your experiences pulling it through the mountains and also whether you've added airbags or other means of adjusting the ride height. Thank you

I personally feel that towing a travel trailer with any 150 is pushing it. Half ton pick-ups are basically large cars with a frame and bed. When you approach the tow vehicles capabilities, performance drops off exponentially. You are adding 25% to the weight. Can you live with OVER 25% reduction in performance. EDIT: 75% OF 70 MPH is 52 MPH.

All good points. I tend to be pretty conservative when it comes to towing, hence the question. When towing on relatively flat ground, I'm quite happy with the performance of my F-150 and I'm not sure that adding another 1200-1500 lbs would change that experience much. But the terrain changes everything and I do think it would become much less enjoyable to tow in hilly areas. The payload on my truck is 1,686 lbs and max towing capacity (according to Ford) is 9,100 lbs. In theory, I have lots of spare capacity, but maybe not so much in practice. I think my next truck will be an F-250 with the 3.5L eco boost.

I find this all very interesting, as I tow my Micro 1720FB with a Ford Ranger. Just fine.
