Anyone have a rig in the 2007 general year range or with either of the following Rear Escape Windows, that I could ask a question of?....
  • Part # 151075-01-01A, WINDOW - ESCAPE/PICTURE - 22.4" X 26.2" - 62% TINT
  • Part # 150651-05-01A, WINDOW - STATIONARY/FLUSH/ESCAPE/THERMO - 22.4"X 26.2"-BLK - DUAL PANE
It's the kind that has two red handles at the bottom.
  • I assume it has a hinge on the top. Right?
  • I want to open it and rig up some sort of screen so that we can use it as an open window while sleeping -- but it seems pretty stuck shut, and I don't want to push too hard. Any thoughts or advice advice?

I would say its mostly stuck shut due to the rubber weather stripping adhering to the frame/glass. I would get a can of 3in1 for rubber, reason is the small straw. Take and spray the product all the way around the window. I would then take a razor blade and very carefully try and separate the rubber from the glass. Once you get a little separation spray more product on the area. You could also use liquid dish soap but the 3in1 is a spray and may penetrate the area better.
I used to drive for senior assist vans and part of our monthly inspection was to open and close the emergency windows. Some of the older vans had the same problem you are referring to.

As for screen, cheap fix purchase screen fabric and good button magnetics.

That’s a very common type of exit window. As previously mentioned it’s likely just not been opened in a long time, if ever and the seal is just stuck.

I think by hwy safety law exit windows may not have screens or gear to hold them open to use as a typical window. At least when I had a 2015 Class C with a big exit window in the bedroom that’s what I was told. I don’t know if that’s true or an old regulation or not.

I know we opened ours for air flow with a stick holding it open. But I never got around to making a screen for it.
