Looking for advice on how to stop my dual wheel electric trailer brakes from squeaking. I had the brakes checked in October of last year when I had the bearings repacked. There was 80% left on the pads and everything else was deemed to be in spec. I took the trailer out in December and did not have any issues. On the next trip March is the squeaking started every time the brakes were applied. Other than some rain and high wind events that may have blown dust/dirt into the drums I am not sure what else could causing the squeaking noise. I would appreciate feedback and/or suggestions.

Something to consider but I have so little recent info that it needs to be checked?
At one point there were different materials used for brake bands/shoes. If memory is any good it seems some materials were better for long term wear when tough conditions were a problem.
Trash trucks that made tons of frequent stops were famous for letting you know they were in the neighborhood???
But they rarely put them on cars becasue they wer noisy!
Possibly check with some shop who knows brakes and maybe they can tell you if a change would quiet them?
Possible, some former owner did mountains and wanted pads that would last longer, even if noisy?
Alternate idea? Do you have some form of AI on your PC? I did ask the question of why they are nosiy and got a tub full of ideas on Copliot and they did give severl referrences to check. Way too much for me to relay but perhaps check AI for good info?

Hi, thanks for the reply. I did check online and got the same laundry list of things to take a look at and consider. The thing is they were never noisy until just recently. I don’t know. Maybe it’s time to change out the pads or clean the rotor area. I have reached out to a couple of shops and the Winnebago dealer Winnebago want $600 to do an inspection which I think is ridiculous. Again, thanks for your help.

Yes, sometimes I find AI is good and other times it seems it can't cut the info down enough to help. I find just going to one of the smallish local shops for things like oil, tires and the normal mech work is bettter. One local to me is smallenough that an RV is not good inside but they just grab a few tools and do lots of the small stuff in the back lot. small enough place that they like it when I go by and talk it over and stay arround to get the weird hood latches loose for them. I think they kind of like going in the back better than in the shop! This may be a different year for your end of the world but sliding under an RV on a hot day may not be that bad and if they do trucks, the will know what an Rv needs.
One to consider is whether there may have been enough rust form over winter to make it noisy and a little wear might clear it? Problem with that idea is that it might also be enough to score the drums?? It's that sort of thinking keps me awake at night! UGH?
Getting spoiled, I have to admit that brake work is one I'm glad to pay for if they are close to right! Just getting the tires offf and on is too much for me!
