Slides out without jacks down 2011 Tour

I have owned two Monaco Signatures with air leveling only. Obviously I put the slides out, after air leveling, without jacks being down. I now own a 2011 Tour with hydraulic jack leveling. My question is, if I lower the coach ( dump air) and am on a level pad, can I extend the slides without concern about any damage to the frame and slide rails?

If I am on soft ground or unlevel ground the jacks go down after dumping the air bags. If it is in my shop on the level slab I will put the slides out after dumping the air bags. I have not noticed any movement in the coach doing it this way.

Winnebago states in your Operators Manual that you are to deploy the leveling jacks before extending the slides. I assume this is to help keep the slides aligned and working properly.

However, my personal experience has been that in some instances I can and do extend the slides without leveling and, so far, I’ve not had a problem.

My driveway at home is fairly steep - I back the coach up the driveway to park at my house. The leveling jacks are not able to level the coach. Even maxing out the front jacks and lifting the front wheels 6” off the pavement my coach is lower in the front. For the first 4-years I owned the RV I used to do this each time I brought the RV home to load it or work on it. But it was putting pressure on those front jacks and didn’t feel right doing that. So 4-years ago I started just extending my full wall slide without leveling and I’ve had no problems.

But don’t take my word for it, you should follow the instructions in your Operator’s Manual.

My MH is level when parked in the garage on concrete floor, but when the air springs are deflated the front is 3" lower than the rear.
I still extend the super-slide. The reason for leveling first is to prevent frame twist from affecting slide operation. Since there cannot be any frame twist, extending my slide does no harm.
