So I have a 2007 Itasca Suncruiser 38T, purchased in 2022. When getting ready to take it out for the last hurrah for the season, I found the bedroom slideout extended just fine. But the living room slideout...not so much. I can hear the slideout motor running when I try to extend. I held down the Unlock switch for 7-10 seconds, retry and still no luck. I doubt it has anything to do with the battery, alternator, generator, etc. as one slideout works while the other does not.

Pulling out the voluminous manuals, I tried replacing a few associated fuses. Although I'm not sure if the slideout motor is running that would be the issue. I saw instructions as to manually retracting the slideout, but nothing to do with "unsticking" the slideout to extend it a bit. I did loosen both hydraulic solenoid nuts a few turns and then try to turn each of the two retaction bolts counterclockwise just a little bit to see if that would loosen things up. Still no luck.

I did notice the retraction bolt closest to the driver has some wiggle to it. The bolt isn't loose, but the whole assembly has some play to it. The retraciion bolt closest to the rear of the coach does not have that play to it.

Any other suggestions before I schedule a likely costly service appointment? :)

One consideration, it might be the slide lock. Those have been problematic. So if you can get up high enough to check it and see if it’s really unlocking. Only one of my slides has a lock and after reading too many stories of failing locks I actually quit using mine.

Of course it could be something else but you might want to look at that, as well.

Thanks for the tip! Now just have to figure out where on Earth the slideout lock is for the living room. Will start poking around to see. Appreciate it!

Found the electric motor for the locking mechanism up in an overhead cabinet in the dining area. Took the cover off. Now trying to see if there is some way to manually disengage the lock, since perhaps it’s failed and stuck in the locked position. :)

Here is what I see up above the dining table. If this control the slideout lock I’m wondering if I can just do something to disengage it, if the slideout is stuck in the locked position?

Just a thought

Id read somewhere that you lubricate what you can see with silicon lube. Re slides.

But I had a problem with our rear slide and ended up going under the bed, removing the plywood then cleaning the worm drive. Once I did that I relubricated the heard. Worked great.

Not saying this is your problem but they do gum up.

If the motor doesn't seem to try to move, I might first jump to power being the problem.
We get some info on the 12VDC that moves this thing here:

Winnebago stamps small wires with ID like this:
wire ID.jpg
If you spot an ID on the drawing as I marked or on a wire, we can "decode" that info to get the "from" and "to" locations of the ends and that can lead to finding the battery and ground supply we need to check.

If the latch motor is not moving, a suspect point might be the small micro switches that control it as shown here??
For emergency moving, it might be possible to do a temp bypass of a switch if that is found?

Follow-up about this. The slideouts are under extended warranty, so I took it back to my dealer. Winds up it was an issue with a solenoid value. The dealer wasn't able to fix it the first time a few months ago. Took it back, and they are saying if the solenoid valve itself requires replacement they can't do it. Since the part is no longer available. Trying to Google the manufacturer of the actual slideout mechanism to see if I can locate something to point the dealer to. I don't want to put this RV out to pasture yet!

2007 but covered by warranty? That sounds like a warranty that the dealer has set up, possibly with some other company or inhouse?
Do you have a copy of this in writing to check the details? I have learned not to trust other folks to read things like this if they may tend to lose money on it!
I'm a cynic but find it helps me avoid paying for things they have agree to cover.
My wife worked trucking insurance for a bit and found it an eye opener!

But for the repair? Getting a solenoid to work for a bit but then fail again? That sounds a bit odd as I think of them as simple mechanical electrical things that need to work right or be replaced! Putting one back after it failed seems like only delaying the trauma.

But then I might also be totally wrong and you need to get closer to real info from folks who know far more!

One way to do that is to find what model of HWH jacks and talk to them about what solenoid and all those details!
You may be getting the straight story or you may not. The days of trusting are definitely gone!

Thanks for the reply. A few months ago the dealer replaced a solenoid relay that was related to this specific slideout. It worked for a brief time they tested it, but since then the slideout has failed again. They warned me about the solenoid itself. If that's the culrprit they claimed they cannot get a replacement part, since they are now obsolete.

The extended warranty was an add-on the dealer offered. For this 2007 RV that I purchased in 2022. It covers the hydraulic jacks and the slideouts. Although if replacement parts are hard to source, then that's a concern.

Yes, this is a problem with some deals we make. It may be true or they may be just stringing you along to get past the warranty?? No way to tell but if we do the checking on stories where we lose money, it can sometimes change the story!
One of the things that bothers me here is how often we get posts about HWH hydraulic failing and being repaired. There are tons of them out there and many are older than what you have.
That is where I go a bit further and get the info from a different source! Folks who sell the parts are less inclined to tell you they don't have the parts than the folks who may want to avoid paying for the parts on warranty!
I might go with collecting as much info as possible from any tags on the system or any written info, then contact HWH folks to see what THEY think about getting parts.
There may be a parts problem or there may not.

If HWH says there are no parts, I go back and look at that warranty and see what it says they do. Does it say they fix things if they can find the parts? Or does it say they fix things?
If it says they fix the system, I consider the lack of parts to mean it is their problem. Maybe they have to buy that part on the system new instead of the smaller part?? Maybe they have to send the whole unit back to HWH and let them repair it?

That's why we buy warranty on stuff that may break down!
