Shore Power Plug Strain Relief on 2007 Outlook 31C

My shore power cable outer insulation has separated from the actual plug and now has little to no strain relief. Has anyone else had this problem and is there a fix for this or just replace the cable. At some point the conductors will eventually fail due to the strain of plugging/unplugging the cable from the gen outlet.

I think there is a replacement plug that can be wired on the existing cable!
Not sure how I might feel about that as possibly not as long lasting as the molded ends?
But worth doing a search and maybe go by to look at one before decide?

Quick search using AI (Copilot) gives me lots of info that sounds correct but the hangup was that we did not get into whether 30 or 50 amp! Also the results I got favored Amazon and that is where I tend to want to seem howit fits and what it takesto get the heavy wires fit in for how long it loks like it might last? Maybe a first check fo more info to try AI, if uyou have it on any of your machines?

This might not be too hard as I see lots of "normal" places to shop one!

One point to know? I did this change once and liked the idea of the big handle! Except that meant I could not bang the lid shut when I had the plug in while at home. I cut the handle off but the plug part did work fine! I do like the cord relief bettter on the longer type that has the handle over the short one for $32 at HD?
Dealer's choice and if we can get by for under $20 on RV work, we call it great!

Ours started to pull away from the plug so I ran some super glue around the end of the casing and pressed it back in place. It's been holding ok so far.

Problem I have is the small area where the gen plug is. Very little room at the bottom for a long plug like these. The short radius bend in the power cable is the reason the insulation separated from the plug. I wish the current plug had just a flexible strain relief on it. I'll hunt around and see if I can find a suitable replacement. I'm handy with electrical work so I can DIY it.

Carry on as the shopping may be the hard part and there are lots of options to look over!
Different idea if it might work?? Does the plug look like something you could just rotate it in the box with not too mcuh if it fit a different plug that you like?

Interesting idea of turning the receptacle. I'll have to look at it and see if that's possible. Thanks for the idea.

The jacket shrinks with age, a pretty common thing! I wouldn't worry about it; there isn't much "strain" in the plug!
