An RVer with a 2004 Sightseer asked what others are using to replace a badly leaking Kwikee 3000 leveling cylinder, noting difficulty finding an interchange and slow responses from a repair company. Members suggested contacting Lippert because it owns Kwikee, and also recommended removing the jack and checking with hydraulic repair shops, since some can reseal or rebuild similar cylinders even when they are described as non-repairable. The original poster later found three shops that work on...

Curious what are folks buying to replace the leaking Kwikee 3000 leveling cylinder?
I have one that is leaking pretty bad and searched for a good part of the day for a replacement.
I would think there would be something out there that would interchange.
There is a company that use to fix them but I am waiting for them to get back with me.

Contact Lippert as they have bought about everyone that ever made anything for a camper. They might have solution.

In general... you could remove the jack and have it rebuilt or perhaps even just new seals installed. Where do you have this done? At a hydraulics shop. See, lots of ground work equipment use hydraulic cylinders that are just like your jack.

Some are not repairable but others have reported that even those that are "Non-Repairable" can in fact be repaired.

You're not far from Akron and there are a number of full service Hydraulic shops there.

I found 3 places that work on those sealed cylinders. The closest to me is in Kentucky. About 5 hours away. Small fortune to ship it to them, but we are heading down that way by the Ohio River in July so I am hoping to work something out with dropping it off and picking it up.
Thanks on the tip about Akron!!! I had my brother looking too and he was talking to some place in Akron area, but I haven't heard back from him yet.

Thank you for taking the time to help. Appreciate it!!!

Its not sealed. The two halves of the cylinder screw together. Your best hope for getting it fixed is remove it from the rig and physically bring it into a hydraulics shop.

At least around here its hard for these places to get help so they arent too quick to answer the phone but the counter gets first dibs.

The suggestion above to walk it in, is often a very good idea in my experience.
One is how much easier it is for a counter guy to know lots of the questions he will have. Things like him knowing what he has and being sure of it, rather than trusting what somebody on the phone tells him is one big step forward.
It can be much the same as we get here on the forum. Many might like to help but the first big challenge is getting the basics of the situation and that can take way too long if we were standing in a business trying to take care of a line full of potential customers!

Hello, I had 2 rear cylinders leaking a few years ago. Tried to find rebuilder, none local, with shipping and repair, cost approached $1000 each. Ended up buying new from Lippert. These cylinders must be cut open, rebuilt and welded. Very special work.

Thanks Mikeknapp. Were they the Kwikee 3000? Could you give me the Lippert place you got it from? I have a Lippert here near me. but they said they didn't sell that kind of cylinders. I found 3 places that should do it but like you mention between shipping and getting it repaired you might as well buy a new one. Custom Cylinder in Winchester, Ky. is one place that use to repair the sealed ones. It's about a 5 hour drive for me, but I am thinking on driving it down there, and stay down that way and fish the Ohio River for a bit. Use that shipping $$$ for airbnb house and bait!!! Thanks again.
