Greetings all. Sold my Class A Sightseer 36V a couple of years ago and am now buying a 2018 Mini Winnie 31K. I'd like to replace the jackknife couch with a pair of recliners and wondered what my options are. Do I need to purchase from Winnebago or can aftermarket brands be substituted? If so, any suggestions? BTW, good to be back in the fold.

I have no first hand knowledge of your unit. However I see no reason you would have to purchase from Winnebago. I have purchased items from Shop4Seat in the past but only seat bases. They may be worth looking into.

I know there are mixed feelings about Camping World but they do have a nice selection of furniture. Other than that your local furniture store may be a place to look.

RV recliners typically have VERY HEAVY bases to prevent migration during travel. Having said that, I don't think Winnebago is the only source. Google "RV recliners" or search6 Amazon.

I have a 31K and removed the jacknife sofa several years ago. I replaced the sofa with a loveseat recliner (2 seats). Mine is not electric; I'm not sure if electric takes more space, but it would add weight.

I measured the available space, side to side, and front to back on the slide platform. I bought ours at a furniture warehouse at about 30% the cost of a "RV" loveseat. Installation took a couple hours.
That's my experience

When shopping, look for the term, "wall hugger," to be sure your recliner will use only minimal space behind the headrest when fully opened. Also be sure the units you buy will fit through your doorway. Note: Many come in pieces to assemble on- board for this task.

I own a 1999 Winnebago with slide out. Had a jackknife sofa and replaced it with two recliners from RecPro. That was in 2020 and they are still working great in 2026. We are full time so they get used.
Caution... We did not get leather recliners... we have seen others who have replaced theirs and the leather has fallen apart... Ours look great still.... Weight... believe it or not jackknife sofas are HEAVY. The difference in weight compared to the RV Recliners from RecPro was not that big a deal. We have had no issues with the slide out with the change. Another issue.... pulling out the jackknife and replacing with recliners may not be "plug n play". If you are going to install on a slide out be careful what you are drilling into. I had to extend the floor "base" for the RecPro recliners because the jackknife couch had a much shorter base (when measuring from the wall). All worked out well but it was a lot more involved than just taking one out and throwing in the new. As to RecPro... I have had to replace the "recliner manual pulls" in both recliners. Not easy but doable. The pulls can be purchased from RecPro (cheap) but the design could be better. However after 6 years of fulltime use the recliners have been an incredible value.
