Replacement Door Handle for 2000 Journey 34D

The door handle on my 2000 Journey 34D is in need of replacement. Have looked at several sites and cannot find one that fits the door.
Any suggestions?

It is most likely a Trimark. This is an ongoing problem for older units. You may find you can fix the one you have, they are annoying to get apart, but usually they just need tweaking.

Is it has the same as the one found on Amazon? Then if so and the handle just flops without engaging the Lever, it can be fixed by wrapping a length of stainless steel wire around a worn out boss on the inside.

I had problems with my TriMark handle and was able to get great help from TriMark customer service. Might be worth a try.

Our '03 Journey had that problem.
After climbing in the driver's window it was easy to open from the inside.
I spent the day taking it apart and testing it to see what the heck was wrong.
The outside handle has a rod that runs along the lower portion of the lock from right to left to engage the same opening lever the inside handle uses.
The pivot point was worn so badly it wasn't fully actuating the release.
I built up the pivot point and it's been no problem since.

I replaced mine last year, 2002 Journey. Same issue, I was able to replace just the Exterior Paddle, the part is included. Trimark wanted over $400 for a new lock. I got it from Pacific RV Mirrors for $110. Pretty easy to replace, and the new paddle on the outside looks great! Jack with Pacific RV Mirrors was very helpful. Pacific RV Mirrors, [email protected]

I just installed an RV Lock Atlas keypad/wireless handle on my 2007 Journey. It works great, I did have to do some grinding of metal on the plate it mounts to on the door to clear the ribbon cable of the RV Lock handle. When you lock the door it locks both the deadbolt and handle. Locking/unlocking can be done with a key, the touchpad, or a wireless remote. If you currently have a wireless remote from Winnebago you will have to disconnect the solenoid in the door from that system as it only locked the handle not the deadbolt and you won’t be able to remove the old handle with it still attached.

My lock was fine but I replaced it with the RV lock Atlas on my 2004 Journey. I wanted an electronic lock so I wouldn’t need to worry about keys. We have loved it. Minor grinding or filing to get it to fit in right, but overall a great lock. We have remotes, but usually just use the keypad so I don’t need to carry anything when I go out for a walk.

This just happened this morning to my 2005 Itasca Suncruiser 37B. When I opened it from the inside, it felt like something gave way. Now the inside handle is very loose, as is the outside handle. But I can open the door both from the inside and outside. And I can lock it. So it's usable so far. They're just loose like there's a spring that disconnected somewhere.

I tried to unscrew the 3 screws on the inside, and the top one next to the deadbolt is very difficult to move. I'm nervous that if I get it off, I won't be able to get it back on.

I would love to see a photo of what the inside will look like when I get the panel off.

I can send you pictures of the inside of the locks, which is probably where your problem is. Let me know if that would be helpful. It’s generally a pretty simple design. There are a couple of springs as I recall.

That might be helpful. It's been working, so I haven't taken time to tackle it, but when I do, I'd love to know where the springs are supposed to be if one is broken. I'm going to take it apart tomorrow.

I finally took it apart today, and I'm really glad you sent me the photos. It's a broken spring. It was laying on the bottom, so your photos are telling me exactly where to put the new one.

Now I just need to find a new one.

Happy to help. You could call Tri-Mark and ask them. It seems like such a basic spring, you could probably find it at a hardware store. If not, you can measure it and get it at www.thespringstore.com.
