My middle clearance light is out, so I bought some bulbs and just went up there to replace it. The light housing began to crumble as I unscrewed it from the body and attempted to take it apart to replace the bulb. I abandoned ship and put it back as I am just going to replace all 5 of them with new LED units. I assume this is a common issue? What is everyone replacing them with? I'd like to go with something good quality and modern but not tacky.

Age does get to the plastic after a while and if we stay in the far South, the sun does eat things quicker!
Don't mention that to the girls, though! They tend to think a nice tan makes them look good but after a few years it begins to show, just like RV.
But the job of finding a new set of clearance lights is one I've fought a few times and it gets tricky to try to find a full set that does what we need as there are different surfaces to mount them. Do your lights set down in pockets or just on more level surface?
At this point, I see little difference in quality but finding the right shape to fit the spot can be a trick at times.
I go with taking some measurements of the basic outside size you have to work with and then just go shopping. I don't find much difference in amount of lights, etc, but I do tend to like a fixture that allows me to change bulbs if needed.
One of the bummers I am finding in new LED for home use is the type that has an integrated LED light panel instead of bulb holders. That sems to mean if one LED in the string fails, I have to change the whole fixture when I really prefer just changing out a bulb.
Maybe dealing with RV and single LED, that is not the problem I find with house where we have lots more LED on each fixture?

Maybe just a personal item that bugs me?

All the best quality ones seem to be for semi trucks and they are about 3 times the size. There are LED ones on amazon but it said they were a "frequently returned item" with bad reviews. I may just buy the 5 housings from Winnebago (if I even can) and put LED bulbs in them.
