Remote cargo doors not working - 05 Journey

The cargo door locks (05 Journey) will not activate from either the remote or switch. Entry door lock works fine with both. Pressing the remote switch or the coach switch causes the cargo solenoids (next to the fuse box) to click and I can feel the activation on the solenoid. The cargo door locks are frozen open and I can not activate the locks with the key. How does the lock work? Can I disconnect the locking motor so my key will work?

I've had individual door locks apart on my Ultimate. Unless they are different from my '03 locks, I can't imagine how they could all be frozen one way or the other unless the solenoid is exerting constant power to hold them. I wonder if disconnecting power might help ...and indicate a frozen solenoid? ...or you are not using the correct key in trying to manually unlock them?

status report> Took the acuator on one door off and found the mechanism was immobile. Cut the acuator open and found the motor was fried - apparantly constant current was applied to the mechanism and caused meltdown. See note from Paul) My local installer of remote locks sells the acuator for $15 so I will buy a couple for tests but until I find the problem will not replace the eight acuators on the coach

...can you tell if all the individual door actuators are also locked up? It's been awhile since I had any of mine apart, but I'm thinking there is a way to take the actuator out of the system so you could at least work the locks manually until you find a fix. I would be talking to Owner Relations via telephone or email. They have been super in working with me and helping me to resolve problems. I normally do it via email so I can make sure I get all the info across to them, and then have a copy of their reply to work with.

update-- I have only removed one acuator but the rest will not turn with the key so I assume they are all bad. Simply removing the actuator allows the locks to be operated as normal, locking and unlocking with the key. The big concern I have during repair is not finding the root cause and having a repeat when the acuators are in the locked position. I don't know how I would open the doors so I plan to convert all doors to key entry and replace acuators one at a time until I am confident I have fixed the problem. I am bringing the coach to the house in the next few days and hope to learn more. By the way, I found a source of the actuators on the net for $10 apiece.

I do not have the same problem as you but, I have had two of the actuators on my 2002 Ultimate Advantage go bad. What is the address of the net place that sells them for $10.00. Would like to order some from them to replace mine and possibly get a spare or two. Thanks in advance for you help.

Just wanted to thank jbowers for the info on the actuator. I have received them from Cammando Car Alarms and they replaced the flat ones on my RV with no problem and work like a charm. A lot cheaper than what was quoted to me at another place to buy them. They fast shipped with no problem.

Thanks !!!!!
