Just completed a short run in the Itasca, and we seem to have developed a rattle in the driver slide - which is the massive one.

Is this normal and/or can something be done about it? I am not sure what my expectations should be with these slides - Now that I have licked the wind noise, I'm noticing things like this...

According to the wife, who walked back while we were moving, the rattle is on both vertical ends.

Thanks,
Jerald

Don't know what it could be. IMO it should not be rattling. We have a 2015 Itasca Meridian 36m with a full wall slide plus two other slides and none of them rattle. Good luck in finding the solution! Have FUN RVing!!!

jrpend, check and see if the awning is hitting the anti-billowing block.

So what is an anti-billowing block and how does it work?

Ok...It does sound more like a pop than a rattle anyway, so this is a possibility. I googled "anti-billowing block" and still don't see how they work or how they are supposed be be when stowed.

Is it supposed to fit into something when stowed?

Thanks,
Jerald

jrpend, here are some pictures. The one picture is from our 03 Journey I had to remove the spacer extension because it was hitting the awning roll. The others are from the awning installation manual.

2015 27N Vista. 3rd time out and first long trip from B.C. to California and back. New unit and still have flooding issues in the basement after driving in rain..This after having it 're-sealed' twice. W.I. still hasn't acknowledged their problem. Now the front driver's slide is rattling.

I had a constant banging or slapping noise in the front slide area around the motor and shaft. I used the recommended lubricant (and now do so regularly) and also now use a transit bar forward when in motion. The slapping ,banging ( or whatever it is) has now disappeared.

Can't say it will cure your ills, but it sure fixed mine on my 2015 Winnebago Vista 36Y. Do a search on this forum for "Utube video-Schwintek lube". I watched the video several times, ordered the suggested lube from amazon, applied it as described in the video, and now I travel without the annoying slide noise!

This forum is a fantastic asset! I read it as much as I can to spur ideas for upgrades, learn from others on maintenance tasks, and to find answers to my own questions. So thanks to all of you who make this site such a great asset!

Enjoy!

When applying lube to the Schwintek slide mechanism, do you lube only the areas at the upper track or both upper and lower tracks?

I have the same coach a 36Y and watched the video too and it works. When you apply the lube go ahead and do all the slides. I only did the squeaky one and about 2 trips later another one started to make noise. Must be a regular maintenance thing to do a few times a year.

I get back behind the seals and spray the "gibs" (upper area and lower) as depicted in the videos then I hit the tracks well also. No noise now for several months. Don't know what they put in that new fangled spray but for some reason it works?

What is a "transit bar"?
