Hey everyone

My propane fridge totally failed on my last trip. It is a Norcold N611. I replaced the circuit board and now it is working on 12 Volt but will not run on propane. It does attempt to light and is sparking however it will not light and I cant smell propane. My next attempt at a repair is to replace the gas valve. It has a part number on it 621329 however it appears to be discontinued. Can anyone help me with a replacement gas valve for this model.

Thanks in advance

Calvin

Replacing parts is a pretty expensive way tot test if there are options.
In this case I would want to check to see the gas valve is getting the electrical signal to open at the right time before changing it.
then there can be times when it is something as simple as the tiny little hole where the gas should come out (orifice) is clogged with a bit of rust, etc.
Or if it has been open to wasps, mud daubers, or spiders, there can be a nest built in the tube that carries the gas from the orifice to where it should light.
Use care if this is an RV that is new to you and you are just getting it back in shape as they can have a surprise if the gas is old. There is a "smell" put in the gas but if it gets too old, that smell can be missing----but it still burns!
Don't get caught letting a bunch out that you can't smell and then it suddenly lights!

This should take you to a manual for that frig and down about page 11, there is a troubleshooting flow chart to lead you through checking things:

Hope that helps to point the way! Good luck to you!

Propane fridges need to have their combustion channels (if that's the right term) cleaned, albeit rarely in my experience.

I have the same refrigerator and had problems with it working on propane. I had to reset the board on the unit several times on my way back from Alaska. When I got back, I replaced the burner tube as it was somewhat corroded and the flame looked slightly low. The part is available on Amazon for about $16 and this fixed my propane issue. Since you are smelling gas, I would bet the gas valve is probably working. I agree with Morich that replacing parts can be an expensive way to troubleshoot, but for $16 I gave it a try and it worked.
Good luck to you with this one!

I just wanted to put an update on here. I have corrected the problem with the fridge and as it turns out the circuit board i order off of amazon was the issue. I talked to a local propane refrigeration guy and he sold me a circuit board for 350 that looked identical but was green on the back not white. I said this looks identical and he laughed. He said and I quote " Identical except this one will work". Took it home and plugged it in. Fridge has been running for about 6 months now. Lesson learned don't buy chap Amazon circuit boards
