We have a 2023 View 24V, it has a Onan 3600LP Generator with 7 hours. We purchased last August 2024 with no issues, during the winter I ran the generator every month for a minimum of 30 mins with the AC Heat pump. Never an issue and it started everytime. Last week getting ready for a trip the Generator would try to start but would not stay running, It would spudder maybe 10 seconds and then stop. I checked the error code and it seems to be error 36. We tried again during our week out trip and it would not start, tried twice on different days. Motorhome was level, heater, water heater and stove top all worked great. Even used the outdoot connection for grill. Got home and the Generator started up and ran perfect, I ran for 30 mins with the AC on. Tried the next day and nothing, same thing it tried to start but will not run. Batteries are fully charged, oil is good, checked the regulator hose for debris, air filter is clean. Any suggestions?

I have one of those Onan LP generators and have had similar issues.I found that even when the oil level"looks good...", adding more did the trick for me. It's hard to service with oil but keep adding until it full. Ampient daily temperature changes could effect the oil level sensor. The regulator vent is probably the #1 culprit for this symptom. There should be a screen over the hose end. I've had good luck changing the spark plug for ro7gh running too. Good luck and safe travels. Larr6 2014 Reyo P

Some basic questions first? You have in mind how to check the codes. Have you tried resetting the code and try again. Sometimes mechanical minds are not as good as we might like, so a shot in the dark for a quick cure!

But assuming that fails, do you have the book on hand for the specific genset you have?
I found this site for info if not:

One point that you may need to review is the LP level. It mentions having good fuel level as a potential problem?? Possibly the genset needs more than some of the other users and you may have reached some critical point?

But the basic idea is that we need fuel, air and fire! Maybe check fuel to be sure, air I think of as not a super likely on new engine. So is it something you might want to do to check the fire at the plugs?
Possibly pull the plug, hold it on some metal of the engine while it is cranked to see spark is there?
Maybe look over the wires for plug, etc. to make sure one is not just kind of hanging on the connection to be hit and miss?

They can be so simple but also so fussy!
