Did you have the complete system installed or the Stinger? I had been talking to the banks people and the complete system along with installation costs exceeded $4000 and the stinger system wasnt a whole lot less than that. If I may be so bold as to ask, What did it cost you?
 
I bought it directly from Banks. It was the exhaust system, transcommand and the new chip for the engine. The cost of the system, including shipping to Phoneix, was about $2400. I had it installed by a guy there who has been doing only that for the last 6 years. It took him about six hours and cost $650. If I'd had it done in Wa, the cost would have exceeded 4K. So I figure I did quite well.

That sounds like the stinger system. It sounds like you recieved a good price. I will be interested to find out how much you think the power increase is and if you get any increase in overall MPG.

While driving from Florence, AZ to Tucson, the increase in power was really noticable. And frome Tucson to Fort Hauachaua I bucked a headwind for over 40 miles. The bottom line is that I went from 6.2 mpg to 7.55. I can hardly wait to see what happens with a tailwind
 
Well Finhawk, looks like you will be keeping that much loved Adventurer for awhile yet. Seems you are liking the Banks already also. Thats the best price I've heard for the whole system. Great job...Enjoy
 
Finhawk, I assume you have a Ford chassis. Wait til you drive it in 100+ temp pulling a long grade..... that' when you'll notice the other big improvement. When I put Banks on my '99 Chieftain it was really obvious how much cooler the engine ran with those headers. The big fan clutch would not engage til I hit the top & backed off on the throttle. Keeping that fan off when you really need the power to pull hills makes a big difference in speed & mpg's!

I have been averageing around 7.5 with only the factory stock. I am not sure I can justify $3500 for the Banks stinger system let alone the $4000 + for the full banks system. I guess if I was doing a lot of mountain driving it might be worth it. I got over 8 Mpg on the flats going to fla from mich and a hair less that 7 going thru the mountains in West Va area and that was with pullin a 4100# Jeep Wragler.
 
Well, the only thing I can say is that I feel that it has improved things a great deal and I like it. I plan on keeping this thing for a long time. Even considering a full body paint job. So any upgrade that seems to be an improvement, she's gonna get it.
 
Thats a good point Finhawk. The 35U is our first motor home and I have learned a lot about motor homing with it. We both love the convieniences and the room with the slides. For us it may be the only one we will have but at this point I am leaning towards maby a 37 or 38 footer. I like the improvements I see on the 04's and 05's (Adventurers). With what I see on the RV websites I think I would need to get a lobotomy first before buying a new motorhome.

I too have looked at newer units. Some have really tripped my trigger.But then when I go back and look again after a few days,they just don't look good enough for 7 to 8 hundred dollors a month in payments. I can buy a lot of gas with that. My thinking is why trade something that is paid for for a unit that is not as good as this. Oh well, just my opinion.
