New to us 2018 Vista 27PE!

Hello, we have been rv’ers r for decades.

We started in our 20’s in a tent realized sleeping on the ground sucked and ran across a used StarCraft pop up and we’re hook on the RV thing instantly.
We have been in a pop up or travel trailer for over 30 + years.

We just made the jump from a TT to our first class A motorhome, a 2018 Winnebago 27PE with super low miles a couple weeks ago.

So far it’s been a series of firsts! Fry from Atlanta to Boston, drive to New Hampshire, get the run down of all the features and head south. First time driving a motorhome in 40 years, got a really late start getting on the road (5 o’clock), and had to get 1100 mile in in 3 days!
Stop 1 was in Wilmington Delaware boon docking in a casino parking lot for the first time EVER!
But it went ok so we made it to northern North Carolina and it was time to stop again, this time at a Cracker Barrel, so far so good! But kind of stressful.
The third day was a piece of cake compared to the first 2, (the roads in the north east really suck) and finally home late on day 3 to get up the next morning to go to work!

Welcome to a whole different world! Some good as lots of nice things in motorhomes that are not found in trailers. BUT that nice stuff can also be very confusing. Kind of like a new car and finding all the switches?
Step one to saying welcome might be to point to a lot of info Winnebago puts online to help!
One for simply finding what and where you might find things is an interactive site for parts. Not so much that you need to buy parts but just to find things and what to call them can help!

Lots better than crawling around to look for things! If you know the name, looking at the list on right and clicking that name will make it show yellow on the drawing or click on unknown item on drawing and it brings it up on list!

Thanks, I’m sure that will come in handy!!

I like to think I’m pretty handy and that will help in the future. I’m looking forward to our next trip.
Right now I’m recovering from hip replacement surgery (This Monday)and it’s killing me not being able to get out there and get familiar with our new to us rig.
I’m up and about pretty good, maybe in the next week or two

Sorry about the hip trouble. That's sure a bummer to want to do but not yet!

As a small point to maybe head off some trouble, I promote the idea that batteries may be one of the harder things to manage when switching to motorhmes.
They seem so simple that we can miss some small points and let the batteries run down to the point of damage!

Big difference is the MH has two sets of battery and they are connected and seperated at different times and thre are also battery cutoff switches which can fool us as they DO NOT disconnect all the snekay little things that can drain batteries when stored!

Two things that are easy to miss may be worth mention. One is that there are safety items on the coach batteries which are left powered even if we turn the disconnect off.
There are also things on the chassis battery that can sneak up.

On the coach CO and propane detectors are left on. On the chassis, things like radio prests, some ignition or auto door locks, etc can do that side in!

Where we can get caught is that we know the coach and chassis are tied together when we drive. That is good to get some charge into the coach after a weekend of camping.
But if we get home, tie a charger on the chassis battery , we find it lets the coach run down because the connection if broken when we turn off the ignition!
Bingo! Easy to let one or the other run totally flat if we don't watch and do something for charging BOTH sets...

Heads up as it can cost us a battery if we let it go dead over winter!!
Not a big thing---if we are alert!

Now, while semi laid up is a good time to ask some of those "little" points to get up to speed before we get caught!
