Going to be spending quite a bit of time down in Southern Illinois it seems for wife’s work. She was supposed to retire but has taken a corporate health care position with traveling in the Southern part of Illinois instead. So…, to be together with our three dogs we are getting our Motorhome this weekend.
We have experience in RV with a fifth wheeler but we thought we were past that and gave it away. Actually that was the happiest time we both had for the 3 years of full timing it while building our house. Oh the stories…, goats on the roof and so many more great memories.
If your down Southern Illinois way from Cario to Rend Lake and all points from River To River and see Big Al and the Gypsy Queen…, come sit a spell and visit.

Greetings Ardeano,
The 34A floorplan is plenty big for the five of you (counting the dogs.) With my wife & dog in the 22M, floorspace is at a premium, but that 34A has generous floorspace.
OK, so I have to ask. How did the goat get on the roof of your new home? Almost sounds like somebody played a practical joke on you.
Sounds like you are going to have a great adventure. I like the idea of siting a spell to visit.

We had a Forest River 5th wheel that we lived in, in the woods we bought after our house burnt. We lived in the camper for about 3 years while me and my wife built our house on the weekends and anytime after work that we weren’t exhausted. We had planned on being there on that land for the rest of our lives so we began by one baby goat being given to us. Then we got another and then Luke. Well Luke tagged both the does and we had to build something quick so I went to the woods with the chainsaw and cut saplings that needed cleared anyway and built a nursery under the front of the camper. Little did I know Luke as adept at climbing and we were awakened several times to hoof sounds above us. Finally I barricaded it around the edges so he couldn’t climb. I’d go up the back ladder and he’d dare me to come further….., oh the things I’ve seen.

I posted some pictures I found from when we had the 5th wheel and Luke who climbed on top and the makeshift goat nursery I constructed by which he did it.

How to add photos to a post

The photo should reside on your computer, tablet or phone. If you have a photo at Google or Dropbox or similar cloud location download it (Right click Save Photo As) to your computer, tablet or phone FIRST.

Here's how to post a photo inside an existing thread that you are replying to:

Click scroll down to bottom of a thread to the Quick Reply editor box.

• At the bottom of the Quick Reply box, click "go advanced" and then scroll down.
• Click "Manage attachments" A separate window will pop up.
• Click "browse" Then select the file to be uploaded from your computer, tablet or phone's photo gallery. You may select several photos to upload at the same time by repeating the last step.
• Click "Upload" After pics have loaded close the pop-up window
• Click "submit reply" to mount the text of your message - photos will automatically appear at the bottom of your post.

IF you are starting a new thread then you can skip the whole "Go Advanced" instruction because when starting a new thread you are already in the Advanced Editor. So, in this case you just scroll down to the "Manage Attachments" button in the Advanced Editor.

How to embed an image stored on another site:

NOTE: Google Photos is not an acceptable image host to embed photos from. The photo will show up for you but not for other people.

You can do this by using image tags. Upload the image to a service like imageshack and then copy the URL of the image and put that between tags. That will work well, as long as the host site stays in business and doesn't disable your image for overuse of bandwidth etc. Please note that Photobucket images are not allowed and you will recieve an error message if you try to embed one of these images.

You can also paste in the location of a photo stored here in a photo gallery.

To do this: Paste the url of the image into your post. Then add the following code on either side of the url (with no extra spaces):

[IMG]url here

The image will appear where the url was in your text.

Goats are a popular Youtube subject and their climbing ability is amazing. It's clear from your photo that he wouldn't have a bit of problem climbing the framework to your roof.

He was just standing guard for you. I bet you were never attacked by zombies, bears or mountain lions.

Welcome, it's nice to see a new member with an older Itasca. You might want to set up a signature block like mine and creativepart's. You can do it via the User CP in the tool bar. That way, we'll always see what rig you own every time you post.

Good morning Ardeano,
Luke & the other goats look like nice animals. I gave whole goat's milk to my dog Grace for her first ten months. Here she is in the front seat of the Eagle5 when she was just three months old.

The goats are a thing from the distant past, here’s our dogs now.., adult with exception of Frankie the weenie. Rosie is Great Pyrenees and Rusty is Irish Terrier.

We once met a couple traveling in an 18' TT with a Great Pyrenees, an Aussie, and a cat. I asked them how they managed and they said "we shuffle our feet a lot, especially at night".
