Three years ago I put Poly Glow on a small section of the coach to see how it worked. Now I’m tasked with removing it since I’m buffing out & waxing the coach, it actually looks like new where it’s done. I’m almost finished but I’m down to the Poly Glow section.

I bought the Poly Strip and got about 70% of it off, but some of it just won’t budge even with increasing the strength of the stripper. I’ve tried using the stripper with a light cutting pad on the DA buffer to no avail. Buffing over it with compound, wool pad, and the rotary buffer just makes the streaking look even worse.

Anybody have any luck or advice for removing this stuff?

Thanks Much

Never heard of Poly Glow, but certainly the internet has. It seems plenty of boaters have used it and worked to remove it. There are YouTube videos and posts on various boating forums about removing this substance.
I've watched several videos of boaters removing it. Sadly I'm not having the same results. It's a lot of work for sure, but I'm having streaks of it left behind that are seemingly impossible to remove. Just got back from Harbor freight with a course cutting pad to try with the stripper, the light cutting pad wouldn't cut it. Fingers crossed.

It might pay to visit a reputable paint and body shop to get their advice on how to address this.
I used Poly Glow on my boat for over 10 years. 5 initial coats, then 2 to 3 each year. Very easy to wipe on and maintain, but never tried to remove it.

I managed to get 90ish% of it off with the course cutting pad and Poly-Strip. I actually finished buffing out and waxing the coach today. What a project. I did devote a couple days to getting the Poly Glow off so that made the project a little more difficult.

Where it was badly oxidized (and where I removed the Poly) I buffed it out with 3M Perfect-it Medium Polish, then followed up with 3M Fine Polish using a rotary buffer & wool pad. The rest of the coach I used the fine polish where needed. The results were pretty awesome since the polish has some wax in it. Then I waxed it with 3M Perfect-it Wax using a DA buffer and the finish went to another level. Looks great. I’m glad it’s done, what a job that was.
