Moving my battery inside 2024 Micro Minnie 2100BH

I bought a lithium battery to replace my lead acid battery. I’d like to move it inside the front storage compartment. The negative from the battery just grounds to the frame and the positive connects close by on the bus bar in the picture. Could I just buy longer #6 cable and make the same end connections or am I missing something? The trickiest part looks to be finding a way into the storage compartment. Here’s an underbelly pic of the batteries connection.

#6 wire sounds small for the load, what is the max charge and max discharge of your lithium battery, (batteries)?

When I bought my 2023 2108FBS last fall I too had a lithium that I was installing in the passthru area.

The dealer ran new #6 Ga wire (longer) attaching to the same location on the terminal strip and frame.

To get into passthru he ran the wires along side the wires going to the battery disconnect switch (in passthru) through the wire loom in the floor.

#6 wire is nominally good for 50A, and can be de-rated depending on the length of the run. Do you have a fuse somewhere in that line?

The fuse is the 30A Mini Breaker on the terminal strip. No inline fuse between Battery Positive and Battery Input on Terminal Strip Connection. The solar controller, which in my case attached to same mini breaker terminal has an inline fuse at controller.

So I looked up your battery, Assuming you only have one it has a BMS that allows for a charge/discharge current of 200 Amps. That means that the BMS will not disconnect the battery till is sees a discharge of 200 Amps for maybe up to a minute. The lightest gauge wire I would be comfortable with is #2, and preferably #1. The max amperage #6 wire will handle is 75 Amps. This means that unless you have a fuse that will blow at less then 75 amps your wire will become your fuse. That is never a good thing. I would have #1 wire with a class T fuse rated at 200 amps. But that is just me.

Nothing OEM in the trailer has a DC current draw of greater than 30Amps. Assume this is why fuse maximum in the trailer is 30Amps and Winnebago utilized 6 Ga wire

RvNoob34, just wants to move the battery location, he is not changing any of the loads.

By chance, do you have pics of the route to the disconnect switch? When you say “through the wire loom in the floor”, is that in the underbelly? I was hoping to avoid removing that.

First off, where is your battery disconnect located? Is it in the passthru or under the front bed.?

In my 2108 there is a flexible plastic sheath that goes straight up into the pass thru from the underbelly. They often close the opening off with expanding spray foam.

Follow the wires (you pictured) to the left. Where do they go, take a picture.

Battery disconnect is located in the passthough compartment on the passenger side. It’s right next to the prepped inverter box.

I figured those wires (the ones going in the underbelly with spray foam) went over to the solar on side port. It looked like the OEM controller goes to the solar on side port, then to the battery.

I’m basically trying to find the easiest path to run the longer wires from the buss bar to the new battery location in the pass through compartment.

Yes Winnebago ties the solar on side port to the wires that supply power to the Go Power Controller.

The PV wires (wire to roof panels) are usually ran up to the roof in the walls.

Check this out, Mike explains it well.

There are to 6Ga wires connected to the Battery Disconnect. Follow them down through the floor and and back to the terminal strip and ground on frame. Follow these wires with your new 6 Ga wires from the old battery wire location to your new battery.

So I’m gonna have to remove the underbelly layer to access those? I was hoping for an easier way in but that may be the only way I guess.

Yup,

Is the floor wrap on yours on the bottom of the frame?

The wrap on my 2023 is on top of frame and the wires run horizontal to the middle of frame. The sheath I refered to pokes through the wrap by an 1" so the wires run mid frame height.
