Bob

We are interested in this model as well.
We love the interior, lots of storage !
It looks like it will fit our needs for the most part.
One thing it lacks is the gas oven.

Good luck in your search, Dennis

Hi Dennis,
Thanks for the reply.
Funny...not having an oven is one of the reasons we are interested in this model.
Our 2012 Evergreen Element does not have an oven and we have not missed it. The microwave - convection works for us.
And yes, much more storage than we have in our Element. And easier to get to.

I wonder why Winnebago put the black tank flush on the curb side rather than the street side with all the other utilities??
I would like to see an outside "porch light" too. Or are we just missing that?

Bob,

That is funny.
The gas oven would be convenient when 110 volts is not available.
Plus I`ve never used a convection oven and I`m worried how my Cornbread will turn out :)
My KZ Toy Hauler did not have an external flush.
I had to drag a hose inside to flush.
I`m assuming the led strip lights are functional when the awning is closed.
We`re pulling the trigger tomorrow.
Good luck in your search.

Regards, Dennis

Dennis,
Let me know what your impression is once you get your new camper in your yard.

Also noticed that there is no toilet paper holder, but Amazon has numerous choices.

Have not been to Cape May since Coast Guard Boot camp in 1966. I wonder if it has changed much?

Will do.
I`m sure you would still recognize Cape May.
It has changed but not alot.

Dennis,
Now there are two of us with the 2529RG!

Congratulations Bob, good luck with it !!
When do you pick it up?
Does yours have solar ?
We pulled the trigger last Monday.
We`ll pick it up next Saturday.
I already put the tool box together and bought a Weber Q1200 gas grill :)
The one we bought is lacking powered stabilizer jacks, I have an 18v Dewalt for that.
I`m wonderering how much the 12 volt fridge is going to drain the battery when the truck isn`t running and we dont have 110V.
Oh well, no biggie we`ll figure it out.

Hey Dennis,
We actually picked up our new camper last month. I posted to see if there were any other 2529RG owners out there in Winnebago-Land and was hoping for some comments. Looks like you and I are the only ones so far.
Yes, ours has the 100watt solar panel.
We do have the power stabilizers and I like them! A bit slow deploying them, (as is the tongue jack) but I'm not bending down as much as I did with our last trailer.
The 12-volt fridge was a major plus. From what I've been reading, about three days is the limit on the battery. My wife and I rarely do any boon-docking, so I'm not to concerned. When the time comes, I'll upgrade from the Group 24 battery to something larger. I've moved the battery over to the street side and installed a tool box with sewer elbows, etc., behind the propane tanks next to the battery.
Added a sewer hose carrier on the rear bumper.
Ah, propane tanks...I would rather have 2-20lb tanks than the 2-30lb tanks.
We have the recliners instead of the sofa.
A bit disappointed in the small (28 gal) black tank.
I like the ducted air....our last camper's Air Conditioner was pretty loud. Especially in Death Valley when it was 114 degrees out.
We're towing with a 2018 Ford Expedition XLT. So far, other than a slight drop in miles per gallon, no issues. I'd like to have a larger gas tank in our Expedition.
Getting a slideout topper installed next week.
I would have liked to seen more owner's manuals than what we received when we picked it up, but I have been able to find many online.
Our first outing is scheduled for March 15th. I plan on stopping at the Pilot fuel stop on I-10 in Gulfport, MS to get weighed.
We've added shelves in the two wardrobe cabinets in the bedroom and shelves in the two cabinets to the right and left of the TV.
Cut off the chains on the hitch and replaced them with cables.
Ordered a toiler paper holder from Amazon.
Whew...did not mean to get so long winded.

I love my oven! We went camping for thanksgiving and I cooked a 13 lb turkey then made biscuits.

I guess we`ll have to start our own club :)
I was planning on installing two 6 volt batteries, plus adding a solar suitcase at some point.
I`ll probably wait until before we have a long trip out west next year.
The sewer hose doesn`t fit in the rear bumper with the fittings installed ?
Yes, the tank capacities are a little odd.
What engine is in your Ford 6.2 ?
I have a 35 gallon tank in the F250, 10 more gallons would of been nice!
I`ll probably take 2-5 gallon cans on longer trips.
Have you tried the leds with the awning retracted?
Good luck on your first trip, I hope you have a great time !
What`s your destination?

Regards, Dennis

Good morning Dennis,
Hmmm...way different camping styles.
As far as the 6-volt batteries. again, my wife and I are not into boondocking so the two 6-volt batteries and solar suitcase are a non-issue for us. There is plenty of room behind the propane tanks to add an additional battery.
Yes, the sewer hose will fit in the rear bumper, but I'm not a fan of storing the sewer hose inside of it. Water from when you rinse out the sewer hose will most likely cause the inside of the bumper to rust and the constant vibrations of the sewer hose inside the bumper may cause the sewer hose to spring a leak. Just my opinion, not to be confused with fact.
We have the 3,5L Ecoboost V6 engine in our Expedition XLT. It has the 10-speed transmission and factory tow package. I've added better mirrors for towing. We've only towed the Minnie Winnie for two hours so far, so it's difficult to give an opinion how it will tow when fully loaded. Our Expedition is rated for 9,300 lbs tow and 930 lbs on the tongue. Time will tell.
The LEDS seems to work OK with the awning retracted. We have not used them at night yet.
We are heading to Gunter Hill Park outside of Montgomery, Alabama for out maiden trip.
Stay safe, stay healthy.

Ask your Dealer, he should be able to install a oven for you at the cost of a drawer. They're doing that on the dealer level for Micro Minnies also.
Doing away with the oven and changing Murphy bed models to a split mattress only set-up was a huge step backwards for Winn.

I`ll run it by the salesman.
I`m sure that we can adapt to the convection oven.
It`s just that a gas oven would be nice when 110v isn`t available.
We cook outside 80% of the time anyways.

Thanks, Dennis

Slideout Topper

Had a slideout topper installed yesterday!
Looks great. 4 inch slope to deflect waster and debris.

Bob, I suggest you get the "Weigh My Truck" app for your smart phone.

Also, before leaving set up your account online at home before heading to the weigh station.

Then you simply pull onto the scale, pop open the app and sign in and hit the "Weigh My Truck" app.

You'll see the results on your phone and you'll receive a PDF copy you can print out in an email.

This really simplifies the entire process:

Weigh My Truck - Home page

Pretty much a no brainer. The youtube video is very easy to understand. But I'm a bit hesitant setting up an account. I don't know how often I would need to weigh,

I personally think removing the oven was the best idea ever. We have never used our oven and would like the extra storage space.

For those who go off the grid a LP oven makes much more sense than a convection microwave that uses electric.
That's why Winn. is making the oven available through the dealers so a customer can have what they need. Winn should had made it a factory option though so dealers wouldn't be tied up doing the work.
I would even be willing to cut down the bottom drawer to make room for the even larger oven. I have a Brother In Law that does kitchens so I'm not too worried.
