Micro Minnie Thread

Hi everyone! I thought I'd start a new thread geared to the Micro line. We await delivery of our first TT ever: the 2017 1706FB Micro Minnie! We'll pull it with our 2015 Toyota 4runner V6. We have the factory-installed tow package and will have the Blue Ox WD hitch with sway control.

As newbies we have MANY questions as we wait for our rig! Small wonders like: do standard queen sheets fit the queen bed? Large wonders like: will our 4runner handle this rig ok?

We'd especially love to hear from 1706 owners, but welcome any Micro Minnie owners: what you've learned, suggestions you have for rookies, your favorite organizing accessories....... this list goes on and on!

We'll look forward to anything you might like to throw our way from the seasoned Micro field!

My wife and I bought a 2106FBS in early July. So far we've taken it on two trips. Standard queen sheets fit fine. We had to buy a egg crate foam mattress pad to make it comfortable to sleep on. So far we like the Micro Minnie.

Some suggestions based on our 2106DS:

1) Buy an LED lantern. The LEDs under the awning are super bright and it is nice to not light up the entire campground.

2) Buy a portable tank to empty the grey water tank. The grey water tank on the micros is on the small side. Using pretty strong conservation techniques the best we can do is a 3 day weekend without filling up the grey water tank.

3) Expect to go through some organizational adjustments as you gain experience. You have to be efficient in the Micros.

4) Get a good surge suppressor/power monitor. Don't go cheap. They are well worth the money.

5) Buy 2 plastic bins that can stack in the storage area. Use one for clean water supply the other for waste disposal items.

6) Buy a Mad Mat outdoor rug/mat. These are great for keeping dirt out of the trailer and look nice under the awning.

7) Have fun and don't sweat an occasional mistake. Best advice I ever got was on our first trip from an old salt that said he fouls up somehow on every trip.

Hi everyone! A very excited first time RV owner here. We just ordered a Micro Minnie 2106FBS. It will take about 2 months to build. The best selling point of this particular model is the "bathroom"!

Hi everyone, Just put money down on a red 2106DS Micro Minnie. Trading in a hybrid only 2.5ft shorter. Really looking forward to not having to make up a bed every time, the larger shower, 2 sofas, ducted A/C, power awning and having a more comfortable bed then what the hybrids try to pass off as a bed. The 3" memory foam topper is coming with us. Winnebago has such nice finishes and a very reliable brand. My family had a towable Winne when I was a kid in the late 60s-70s so the memories go way back.
I will be towing with a 2004 Toyota 4 runner which did well with the hybrid and only increasing wt by about 150lbs. This trailer is a super weight for the size. Will pick up 4/1 and can't wait for our first trip.
Hope lots of other Micro Minnie owners find their way to this forum. The more the merrier!

We have had our 2106DS for a year now and still love it.

I recently upgraded our plastic Dometic model 300 toilet to the Dometic 320. The 320 is a porcelain bowl with a residential size wooden seat. Only took me about 30 minutes to do. The really cool thing is that all the extra space for the larger seat was added to the back of the toilet profile. This means that it had zero impact on the usable space in the bathroom.

The GVWR on that model is 3800 lbs. Assuming the hitch weight capacity of your SUV is 10% of the tow rating (500lbs), you should be ok. Another thing to keep in mind is the wheelbase of your SUV. A shorter wheelbase makes it more likely that the trailer can toss the SUV around.

By the way, the dry weight on the 1700bh is 3010 so you do not have much headroom for hauling gear in the trailer. After you add full fresh, grey and black tanks, you will have consumed 648lbs of your 790lbs of cargo weight. Yes, it is unusual to have all 3 full but I have learned to always plan for the worst.

Don't plan to do any dry camping, so won't be driving around with full tanks.

My wheelbase isn't the longest at 109.4 inches. But I do plan on a good weight distribution hitch like the equalizer with sway control.

The 1706fb is an interesting trailer that we also considered. It's small and light weight but has 2 axels.

But we really like the bunks.

Hello Everyone I'm new to this forum,

Picked up a 2016 2106DS last spring. Just dropped it off today for state inspection and the tankless water heater recall. The water heater worked well for the first trip last spring (7 days), but started acting up after that. Hope the replacement part fixes it.

Other than the water heater problem, we really enjoy the TT and works well for the DW, myself and 3 cats.

My 2011 Tacoma with factory tow package, P3 break controller, Blue-Ox Equalizer and Ride-Rites pulls the TT well. The Tacoma has plenty of power and I haven't had any sway issues on two lane roads or interstates.

Our 2106DS

We bought our 2106DS just over 2 years ago now. Probably over 15 trips in it and a ton of miles , great trailer. Tankless water Heater has been a bit of a fight , but cross my fingers the last 5 trips out no problem with it. The last trip out we installed a window Mural over the Bed , a upgrade I saw someone do on another forum. Turned out great. In the upper right hand corner you can see the LED reading light I Installed for the Wife.

Tom, Nice upgrades! I think I will try a mural, appears to give the room a greater sense of space. We have the exact same camper. I've had my issues with the tankless water heater. I had the recall done on my heater, they replaced a part or two and now it works as intended. I also installed a bypass at the shower allowing us to set the water temperature and leave the water running and recirculate the unused water back to the fresh water tank and then divert it to the shower head when needed. Allows us to conserve more water since we typically don't have full hookups.

Bigmike, Last year I installed the RVS-770613-213. This year I replaced the origional monitor with the RVS-619P clip-on mirror monitor. I also needed to add the RVS-501N multiplexer control box to hookup the clip-on monitor. This setup works well for me. Here are a couple of pictures showing how I mounted the camera and ran the wiring without drilling holes in the rear wall.

I have a Garmin GPS and bought a Garmin camera that works with it. The hard part was making a mount. I didn't want to attach to the fiberglass so I mounted an aluminum rod onto the spare tire mount.

TV cable not working.

Hi there,

New member here. I have a new 2106DS and have taken it out a couple of times now. I don't want to sound stupid, but is there a trick to getting the tv to pick up the campsite cable? I just assumed that once the cable is hooked up, it would just work. Lol. What am I doing wrong? (This is my first trailer!)
