I am looking at putting MaxAir model 800 vent covers over our two vents. Does anyone have these on their Itasca with the Fan-Tastic ceiling fans with the auto open feature? Are the MaxAir's tall enough to allow the vent to open all the way? I like the auto open feature and don't want to burn the motor up by the vent lid binding on the MaxAir cover.

We have the MaxAir covers on the vents of our Meridian. They do not allow the vents to open completely, so it is a problem with the auto open feature.

Q. DO YOU RECOMMEND VENT COVERS?

A. Vent covers restrict the airflow of your Fan-Tastic Vent by about sixty percent. In addition, covering your vent requires more frequent cleaning due to dust and dirt accumulation. Although we do not recommend any cover over your Fan-Tastic Vent, it will not void your warranty.

We have the thermostat controlled fan in the galley and that is why we decided not to cover it. I like that it will open automatically at a set temp. Also the one in the bathroom opens when you switch on the wall switch. As rebelsbeach said the vent covers cause dirt to collect around the cover. We had vent covers on our other coaches but decided against them this time.

We've had the MaxAir covers on both of our two Fantastic Fan thermostat controlled vents and find there is no problem. True, the vent cover contacts the cover near the full open position, but at that point the motor draws down and stops just like it does when it draws the vent cover closed.

They do make larger covers for the Fantastic fans. Pricey, but maybe they are worth it. I have no problems with the old type..Good Miles

The Maxxair model 800 does not restrict airflow like the others however it is more expensive. We have one on our bedroom fan for flow through ventilation while traveling and to keep the wind from damaging the Fantastic fan vet cover. We do not have them on the bathroom or kitchen fans.

We have Maxx Airs over our two Fantastic Fans and no problem. We never run them above medium speed. On Hi, I would worry that it is restricted.
