There are different levels of things like the vents as well as prices.
What I find best has some features that cover me from mistakes better than other vent might.
I look for a cover which has a built in system to avoid water going directly into the RV if I have left it open while gone and a sudden rain comes along. But I also like to have powered vents!
That part does vary, so no disagreement with you on which fits you better! We often are places where the cool night air coming in without the noise of AC is nice.
We have had several Maxair and they are our normal choice when swapping out any vent, even if I have to add wiring! Really have no complaints on quality and we do like the way their design keeps a stray rain out of the RV!
A point to consider when reading reviews is how the person doing the review may be as much at fault as the product? It seems really obvious but often missed, that the way a vent cover is installed can be a big factor in how well it works!
It is very easy to get in a rush and not align the cover just right and that leaves it doing a bad job!
When dealing with things like vents that open and close, check the movement before install and then after. If it doesn't work as smoothly after install as it did before, consider the problem is NOT the vent! If it has a hitch and jerks as you open it, you have not done a good job and it is not a vent problem!
No firm answer to fit all users!
