Member Title: ONAN 3200 Generator Parts Cost 2020 Navion 24V?
Members generally agree that OEM Onan and Cummins service parts for the QD3200 can be priced far above comparable aftermarket options. Several RVers said standard maintenance items like fuel and air filters can often be sourced elsewhere if the replacement parts match the required fit and specifications. One member shared a direct price comparison, noting aftermarket fuel filters bought at an auto parts store were about $5 each versus roughly $70 from a Cummins dealer, with even dealership...

I would like to "service" our 2020 ONAN Diesel Generator, but the prices for ONAN parts (air filter/fuel filter, etc.) is borderline outrageous. Do any of our esteemed members have any suggestions/sources for non-ONAN parts for this generator???

Please advise when convenient,

A few years ago, I purchased 2 fuel filters for our QD3200 at an auto parts store. Shortly afterward, we went to a Cummins dealer to get a proprietary cable (remote > genset) that had been damaged by mice. That cable should have been $15-$20 max, it cost ~$65! Out of curiosity I asked how much their fuel filters were. They said ~$70! The ones I had purchased were about $5 each. I asked what the difference was. A tech who had come up front said, "Ours says CUMMINS on it!" All of his coworkers cracked up. They said the ones I purchased were fine, and admitted that Cummins takes advantage of their customers.

I recall people talking about sources for QD3200 parts but cannot remember the source. You might search the Winnebago section of the Sprinter-Source.com - The best reSource for Sprinter van owners and enthusiasts. forums.

There is nothing significantly different about the diesel engine in our generators. Like parts for cars, as long as they fit and meet or exceed factory specs they're fine. It is illegal for mfrs to require owners to buy parts from them.

There are a lot of counterfeit parts on the market for just about anything. Sometimes it doesn't' work out. I recently replaces 2 power steering sensors on my Jeep with Rockauto part and both leaked. Paid twice as much at an Autozone and its fine. But I buy lots of non essential things on Amazon.

I went cheap the last time, didn't work too well, the fuel filter sprung a leak and couldn't be removed because the housing was spinning! I had to pull the fuel pump out to access base of the filter! I'll never go Chinesium again, not worth the problems! You don't have to change the filters very often.
