Itasca 32' DPMH 2006

Looking for feedback on the DPMH built on a Freightliner chassis. Itasca discontinued this model for 2007 but I have a chance to get a 2006. I have heard that a short whell base DPMH have tendency to porpuse up/down while traveling down the road. I am testing driving one tomorrow and was interested on feedback.

I have had a 34' Journey for 6+ years, and they drive fine, assuming you keep the 'correct' air pressure in the tires. Overinflation really makes the unit 'jumpy'. The shorter wb coaches do have significantly less weight on the front axle, but if you run with full water and try to keep heavier objects in the basement up front, it should drive fine. Hopefully others with the 32' will respond with their personal experiences on this.

One other thing I wanted to mention was the sweet combination of engine/transmission on the 32': Cummins 300hp with the 6 speed Allison. This engine / transmission should be more than adequate power for your unit plus provide you excellent fuel mileage. Note that most of the units with the Cummins 300hp come only with the 5speed Allison in the Winnie line.

Count us in as happy short DP owners. 7,000+ miles in the last year and no problems of any kind related to driveability. According to Winnebago a 34H has the following weight distribution before adding options and personal effects (it does include the generator):

6801 lbs on the front (33%)
13749 lbs on the rear (67%)

I am not sure about the 32T model, but an email or call to Winnebago will give you the info.

We have an 05 32t Journey. Same chassis and engine as the Itasca. We have not encountered the porpising problems or any other handling problems. We have put 17,000 miles on it since May. Took it to Alaska last summer. We did have a fuel pump fail. We like it.

I had a 2003 32' Journey. It had a vibration in the rear axle--freightliner bought it back from me and put me in a 34' Journey. Ride was much better. Not sure if that helps. If the floor plan was the same as my 32' with the single room bath, I liked that feature.

I have put about 7000 miles on our 32' Itasca Meridian and have had zero problems due to drivability. I tow a 3500 pound Jeep Wrangler, and with or without it, it drives great. We specifically wanted the 32' length to fit into many of the beach and national parks that we frequent. If you have the chance to get a new 06' model.... JUMP ON IT!!!

We have a 32ft. Itasca Horizon. We purchased it new in 2003 and have 14k miles without any driving problems. On the contrary it drives and handles very well and can park with ease. These coachs have a 6 speed transmission and 300hp Cummings. They also have all the same weight carry capacities as the 34 and 36 models. I would suggest you go to the Winnebago Ind. site and look up the previous model information for more details on this model MH.

I have a 2004 Journey 32T and have no handling issues at all with it. I asked the exact same question before I bought mine and then proceeded with my purchase. Good luck!
