New to the group. Found a 1970 D22, parked circa 1998 after winterizing. Was told everything was OK, owner died. Started working on it today, pulled plugs and they looked perfect. Found all original papers inside, located a Chiltons on line, but thats all I have. Any suggestions? I found some info about general restoration and have been working off that.

Big one to be aware of as it can hurt your budget bad!
Keep in mind that brake fluid draws moisture that get more and more as time goes by.
Hygroscopic is a word to know as it means brake fluid may collect water. When that fluid is then used when the brakes begin to move again, there may be rust in places like the master and wheels cylinders!
When those super shiny smooth cylinders move, the rust scores the walls and that may lead to ALL the cylinders needing replaced at large expense.
Check for water in the fluid and/ or replace before driving!
Oil and antifreeze may be thought of but the hidden stuff can hurt us bad!
Second on my list would be look super carefully at any point where water may get it.
It is normal for RV to need sealing checked and often redone at any point where there is any break in the materials. Exterior lights are one that is easy to miss and very slow to show up, even as real damage is being done. Setting that long in wet country, it would be surprising if there are not some leaks but they may be hidden!
Any discolored parts of ceiling or walls? Spots like under wall coverings that may look like just a rough spot? That can be the first clue that the underlying wood panel is getting wet. In the older RV that used wooden framing, the rot and mildew can be eating things that are super hard to repair if you have the metal exterior.

Best of luck on the project!

Nice find! Feel free to share pictures! I was reading the brochure, and one thing jumped out at me: it uses portable LP tanks, so those will need replacement.

Good luck with the restoration.

Was it under cover? Barn find?

Yes / Sort of. Ive known the owfir years and she finally let me have it for cheap. I pulled the plugs to check for rust etc in the cylinders, nada. They look like they were just installed before it got put away. I figure next week ill try to turn the crank, that will give the Marvel Mystery Oil 2 weeks to loosen things up.
