New fireplace project underway — and as usual, we’ve reached that stage: the “friendly disagreement” phase.
It’s an electric fireplace (either ambiance-only or 750/1500W heater).

Question: Where should it go?
👉 Below the wall transition line
👉 Above the line

We’re evenly split, and the stakes are high — mostly my pride. Please vote wisely. Our marriage may depend on it. 😬🔥

Please, let's not get into the actual install, because once it's done, I'll give you an entire video with all the parts and how I did it. Right now, the only question I need to know is how high or low it should go. Thanks!

FIRE IN THE HOUSE

OK - I'll bite... Recommend below the wall transition line (whatever that is) so that you preserve the space above for shelfs / TV / cabinets / whatever. And get the heat function - you'll appreciate that it really does take the chill out of the space...

I would NEVER install a fireplace next to a refrigerator but it's your RV and not mine.
Oh no, you’re adding another variable!😳

So the fireplace is more for ambience the front that’s close to the refrigerator doesn’t get even warm. There is a little heater. If you turn it on the heat will come out the top, but it’s like warm air. It’s not going to affect the refrigerator. I’ve checked that much out….

Thanks for reading my plight. While we all know, or should know, that warm air rises,(tell that to the restaurants that package to-go food with the salad on top of the hot food), 🤬

I digress. When and if we use the heater function, it's rated to warm 400 sq ft of space--we're at less than 200sqft.

So I'm not worried about the heat, not moving around the RV sufficiently I'm mostly worried about aesthetics...

Given the point that you DO want the appearance, I would look at going a couple inches LOWER than I see in the example with one block under it.
My mind pictures fireplaces as being near the floor. Just the way they were first built and then morphed into having built up hearth in front?
But one of my thoughts would be to avoid cutting/fitting the trim around the top if I could avoid that as a problem by moving a coup[le inches lower! The lazy part of me but it also may be difficult to cut and fit the trim at the top to make it not have some form of blunt, cutoff looking ends!

But the practical side of me moves the question totally out of the appearance part and into what we like for temperature. We found the small heater at 750 or 1500 were not able to spread the heat around as much as we liked without getting too much noise.
Our solution was to move to the really, really small 200 watt heaters and have several set at different locations, all controlled by one digital temp controller.
The controllers were something I had gotten used to using in aquariums and I found it easy enough to run several heater at different locations off the one controller.
One of the places we wanted a bit of heat was the couch and that made it handy to put a magnetic mount on the back of those heaters and stick them on the metal under the couch!

But for things you WANT to see, under the couch is not going to work!
