You need to give some more indepth info to really get down to good ideas.
One is what type RV as there are often different ideas of what "minnie" actually means.
Then what do you mean when you say it "kicks on"?
Does the fire start or do you mean the furnace blower starts?

Top of the head, I might think of a thermostat or wires to it as being suspect. But different RV use different heat and air, so step one might be knowing where to look for info.
But running both at the same time is likely not normal!

Can't say how a 2024 is set up but on my 2011 if the heat is set to electric, the heat pump will come on along with the gas furnace. The gas furnace will run till the indoor temp is within 1 or 2 degrees of the set point, then the gas furnace will shut off and the heat pump will continue. If the heat pump can't keep up and the indoor temp again drops below that 1 or 2 degree set point the gas furnace will fire again to help out. If the heat is set to gas, then the heat pump will not come on at all.

Of course the heat from the heat pump comes out of the ceiling vents and sounds just like the air conditioning while the heat from the furnace comes out of the floor vents and is quieter.

Pretty sure most if not all Winnebagos with heat pumps operate this way (when set to "electric") as it has come up before here. It's all explained in the manual.

The heat pump in our View works the same way as Brian has described. You can keep the propane furnace from kicking in if you set your thermostat to less than 5 degrees above what the current temperature in the RV is. Once the heat pump has warmed the interior up to what is set, you can walk the thermostat setting up another 4 or 5 degrees - until you close in on what you really want.

We use this procedure when warming the coach up from storage. A bit of a pain, but it works.

Cheers,

If you have the Dometic soft touch thermostat, try doing a reset. Turn thermostat to the off mode. Press the power/mode and the up arrow buttons at the same time until "- -" appears on the display. Hit power/mode button again to clear the "--" and start over.

As Bigbird says, put fan on auto, or off, else it runs the roof fan when propane furnace runs.
