Hello, everyone. No, I'm not that kind of doctor. My degrees are in Geography, but my interests include geomorphology, geology, astronomy, hiking, photography, and of course, traveling.
My wife, Thelma, and I bought a new Forza and made a couple of trips from Jacksonville, Florida to Corps of Engineer campgrounds along the Tombigbee River in western Alabama before I retired on Independence Day in 2015. Two days after retiring, we left Jacksonville for Alaska. After three weeks in Anchorage, we traveled down the west coast as far as Fresno, California, and then headed east to find a new home in East Tennessee where we both lived when we met in 2004. However, some unresolved issues with the motorhome convinced us that we should winter over out west rather than settle down immediately.
After spending two months at Nellis AFB in Las Vegas, and two more in Needles, California, we worked our way back to Tennessee, and quickly found a home outside of Maryville with an incredible view of the Smoky Mountains.
Our next big trip, a year ago, took us to New England and the Canadian Maritime Provinces, and allowed us both to complete visits to all 50 states with a swing through Vermont on our way to Montreal, Ottawa and Sault Ste. Marie.
Last October we headed west again to spend a couple of months in the Mohave Valley and then headed further west to visit points along the California Coast from San Luis Obispo to San Diego, arriving home in early March.
In three weeks, we'll begin a trip that will take us to through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, northern Minnesota, the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Saskatchewan, and back home by way of North and South Dakota.
I've used our down time to landscape our yard, and make some modifications to the interior of the coach. Specifically, I removed the fold out bed section of the sofa, moved the rear end section forward, built a table to create a dining area, and added a kitchen cabinet in the area originally occupied by the rear section of the couch (see picture). That gave us a lot more storage room because it allowed us to leave the folding table supplied with the coach at home and use the space under the pantry where it had been stored while traveling.
I've only recently discovered this forum, but hope to learn a lot from it after everything I've learned on the iRV2 forums.
