Thanks for your information and insights on getting factory service. We will be heading there in May.

I guess the one thing people are failing to see is at the factory they don't have to order the parts, they either have them or make them. Makes it nice to not have to wait eons for the dealer to order and Winny to ship. Besides Forest City is a nice town with friendly people.

As this is the Winnebago Owners Forum, I think it's especially important for those of us here at the factory for service,to relate to other "Winnebago Owners" our experiences here at the Winnebago factory.
Given the fact that,at some point in the ownership experience, the Winnebago owner may in fact find themselves in the same position, I feel it's somewhat nice to post our experiences here in Forest City for others to read.

I apologize if it seems "fluffy" at times,but there's really no other way to "report" the things that go on "day to day" here in Forest City, than to post them here.

Pictures say a thousand words...How many posts have you read here on these forums where you've wondered just what something or someone looked like? While I've taken the brunt of the "Don Rickles" jokes,I can take it...

As far as the "I'm the co-owner I can add fluff if I want to" comment, I will say that, other than this week in Iowa, I've spent the better part of EVERY day, by my choice, trying to make this web site the "premier" destination for rv'ers. I enjoy it so much and care about the success of it so much that I approached Bill Rowell IRT becoming part of the ownership team.

I CERTAINLY don't think I'm any better than anyone else,if anything I worry more about the content of my posts especially since the "co-owner" moniker.
BTW, I added the "co-owner" moniker in an attempt to give Bill a break in his receiving "all" of the site questions...No other reason.

I sincerely appreciate everyone's opinion and the right that each of us have to it.
If you personally find this topic objectionable,I'd advise you to not read it.

Sounds as if things are "progressing" in Forest City. Its neat to hear of the small city atmosphere and the treatment you are receiving at Winnie..
Rather than my whatsit is not whatsiting where is supposed to whatsit at, all the time

Update for Friday morning...

A few things to do while you are here in Forest City:

There are some nice parks around - have your bikes ready

Jane and I have been Geocaching (geocaching.com) - it is fun and a great way to see the countryside

FC has a real nice Ace hardware store - it's one of the largest I have seen

Bob and Jim went to a casino that was only about 30 minutes away. Bob did quite well as the rumor goes (wait a minute - why did I buy dinner last night?)

The giant Mall of America is about a two hour drive away

For really good dining, the Lodge can't be beat. We also drove about 30 minutes to eat at the Branding Iron in the little city of Thompson. Jane said that was one of the best steaks she has ever eaten. The very nice grocery store in FC, Bill's, has a good deli and serves lunch.

Mike my service advisor has done a good job of keeping me posted on the repair progress with a phone call every day. As of yesterday's update everything seems to be on track to get the coach finished up today.

While I didn't especially like footing the cost for the motel room all week, in hindsight I should have planned on doing that from the beginning. It is a lot easier to just stay in the motel room than taking your coach back every afternoon at 3 PM. Also the techs don't have to spend time putting the coach back together every afternoon - I think they can be more productive if the coach stays in the service bay.

Now - if Winnie gets everything fixed to my expectations, I'll really be a happy camper. I'll let you know.

Regarding the good steak...shouldn't be too hard to find some good corn-fed beef where you are.

John, can you park a motorhome on Mall of America property? I seem to remember reading somewhere they do not allow RV parking, even if you are shopping.

Finally, how is the weather there?

I agree with everything here.......while most of these posts are fluffy, they do pertain to Winnebago....just like I said earlier, I like the fluff posts....I just responded to the poster complaining about these type of posts.

Also, I saw the picture of you and I know to look for Don Rickles, not Harrison Ford, at the June campout at Walnut Hills.

For another good meal go to Butcher's in Fertile for pork chops!!!! They are famous for them and many bring packages of them home in their freezers after GNR. I believe they are only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday but a local can tell you for sure. Don't let the fact that they are located behind a gas station drive you off. Good chow for sure.

I've enjoyed this thread on the factory experience since I have an appoitment there come June.
I have what might be a silly question. My '04 Vectra just passed it's two year anniversary, and I know Winny only gives a 1 year warranty. So here's the question: What kind of money can I expect to spend having the factory fix some things? I should note that some of the items were broken during the first year and the dealer allegedly put them on file as warranty items no matter when I got to a repair facility.
