When we fill the gas tank in our Winnebago Vista(2015), we have several problems.

1) nozzle doesn't go all the way in

2) when it clicks off, gas splatters out of filler over the MH. This may be because it isn't all the way in.

Any ideas? Normal?

Does not sound normal. Spout should go in all the way and click off as designed to do. Sounds like you have something obstructing the fill port. Has this always happened and with different gas pumps?

My 2013 Newmar Bay Star had this problem. The way they constructed the opening for the gas fill didn't allow the nozzle to go in far enough, so the gas would splash out when it clicked off. Just a bad design in my case. We've since traded it in for a different coach, but not for that reason.

I have that problem depending on which gas station I use. Most work just fine but occasionally I have found certain pump nozzles do not sit in just right and I get the splash back. The ones that did splash back are the ones that didn't fit all the way into the filler neck properly.

We have only been to one gas station. Starting a trip this week. I guess we will find out if it is the pump or something else.

The very first time I filled my tank, the gas splashed out all over, running down the paint. Since then when I fill up, I try to listen for the sound of the gas going in to change as it's getting close to full. I pump the last little bit in slow and this seems to help some.

I have 2015 Winnebago 27N , no problem with gas fill up. Maybe you can see if the fill pipe is bent. Does this happen when you first start the gas in tank. I had that problem with a boat and the fill pipe was bent almost shut.

Use the paper towels meant for cleaning windows and pack them around the nozzle and the opening for the tank. No more fuel on the paint.

I find that the new pump handles mandated by big brother will not fit in my fuel tank opening. they are about 1/4" to large.
there is an adapter made for motorcycles that helps.
I made an adapter out of an old timer oil can fill spout. I had to use this adapter the last time I filled up at an ARCO station.
there is info with pics in the archives of this forum.

Thanks everyone. We brought the MH home yesterday, everything looks OK by the filler. Lots of great ideas, we will see how it goes as we leave on Sunday. Hopefully the problem is just where we fill up. It is an older station but easy in/out with the MH and good prices.

When I fill mine up I have to hold it up so the nozzle goes straight in, also on my unit there is a float ball in it and if I fill it up too fast it will shut off the pump.

I been using a 2" roll of electric tape. Placing the tape roll over the nozzle and putting them both into the fill tube. Found this works better than the McCuff adapter. Have to use this in Calif. But other States not so much.

Thanks for the idea. We are on the road and this is an easy one to try at fill up today.
