Fastway E2 Round Bar Hitch Issue?

I have a 2306, tow with a 2023 Tundra and a Fastway E2 round bar hitch, 1,000 pound bars and a tongue weight of around 750 lbs.e

After my last trip I noticed that the L pins to secure the round torsion bars were breaking, see attached pics.

Has anyone had this happen?

Any ideas on how or what caused this, so I can correct it before failure, or breaking of new replacements?

Obviously a Fastway hitch problem. It's looks concerning.

PS. You know what a 2306 is... do we? You have a Micro Minnie 2306BHS so it helps to always tell us.

Thanks,

I have gone to Fastway and I got no good answers except how to read the manual for setup. Needless to say after I sent the pics they agreed it was correctly installed and setup.

I asked for an escalation to have someone at Fastway explain how this could happen and what would cause it. Still waiting to hear back.

I am trying to figure out the problem so I can stop it from happening again, or something worse.

While there is a chance someone here has experience with your hitch, you'll be much more likely to get some responses if you also post on a much more broadbased RV forum... www.irv2.com.

I did a quick search and there seemed to be a number of discussions about the brand, as opposed to here where there are very few mentions.

That doesn't mean someone here will not come along and give you a hand, just that the hitch is used by all brands of travel trailers not just Winnebagos so there are a lot more users of that product over on IRV2 (this forum is a spin off of IRV2, by the way).

I used a Fastaway hitch for years. Loved it, never saw this problem until now. Were the hitch brackets attached to your trailer tight and 90 degrees straight down from the trailer frame arm? I know mine moved a few times, so I had to make sure they were well torqued. Still, never had this. Any pics of the rest of the hitch?

I know nothing about Fastway hitches but this appears to be due to metal fatigue at a stress point, possibly caused by a bad batch of L pins. It looks like replacements are only $5 - $6 depending on your hitch or so. I'd buy a replacement set and see if it reoccurs. The good news is that the cracking looks like a gradual issue, not a catastrophic failure. If they don't crack, problem solved. If the do, you're out a few dollars and you have more ammunition to use in your conversation with Fastway.

Alternatively, this owner had a problem with the L pin bending. You may have the same issue but yours cracked instead of bending. I'm not sure why he didn't just order replacements to see if his were defective. If he paid to have the work done, I'm sure it cost more than replacement:

This fix is not going to repair the elongated hole. The brackets bolted to the trailer also need to be changed.
I have used a Fastaway for years, never had this problem. I would suggest the hitch is incorrectly installed or has been modified in some way.
