Friends, I am in Arizona (Camp Verde now) for the next 2-3 months.
I have a Solis 59PX with a lifted Sumo suspension. Without thinking, I overloaded the van. The van’s gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) is 9,350 lbs, but my van currently weighs 9,860 lbs plus 200 lbs for me as the driver. This puts me over the limit by more than 700 lbs.
The drive wasn’t bad but I felt the weight for sure. I had new tires and didn’t exceed 60 mph.
My question is: Can I upgrade the suspension to handle this extra weight? I have good items I need to keep but I didn’t expect to run into weight issues. And I thought about adding a second cooler. SMH.
Any recommendations on improving the van’s capacity to carry extra weight? Would upgrading the suspension help, or am I still risking damage to the van?
