The owner of a 2022 FLX 2306BHS reported that the Dometic MPPT solar controller showed panel voltage but stayed in Idle and was not sending amp hours to the battery, despite a factory reset, fuse replacement, normal shore charging, and no battery warnings. One member with a similar FLX said their issue involved entering the correct controller settings, while others suggested finding the exact manual and considering whether the battery was already near full enough for the controller to...

Hey folks!
We just bought a 2022 FLX 2306BHS that has the the Dometic MPPT Solar Controller. I can't seem to get it to leave 'Idle' mode even during a sunny day. The unit reads voltage from the solar panels, but it doesn't pass any amp hours to the battery. I've tried a restart to factory settings as well as a new fuse with no change. The battery seems to be fine with no warnings. It operates a seemingly normal shore charge and powers things just fine. Before I start unplugging things relating to the controller for further testing I thought I'd see if anyone else had this issue before and knew of any recommendations.

Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem with the help of another member she gave me the correct numbers that I had to I put into the go power controller. I’m busy today but pm me and I could go to my 2022 2108fbs Flx and give you the numbers I put in. I’ll be available after 3pm today

Since there are lots of small details on each model of electronics, first step would be to get the correct manual for the model you have.
Do you have that manual onhand to know the details on operation?
I have no real info on how and where the numbers you are getting come in but one idea would be that the voltage matches what the battery is set to float at and there is no need for current to flow?
Something like a bucket of water when it reaches full? The supply is still there but stops water flow when the bucket is full!
But that idea IS totally suspect until we know more about what you have and know what the manual says to expect!

That's a good point. I'll dig around for the manual. I bought the unit used so the paper documentation for the controller was limited to just the quick start guide.

Incidentally, it started charging for the first time yesterday. Unfortunately I don't get home in time to see any of the full sun, but it finally did move from idle to bulk. I attached a few screenshots from the app.

When in doubt, I like to look for more info on what I don't understand. And this solar and monitor are both out of my experience, so I lack any real idea of what we are seing on the numbers.
It looks like it tis telling us that we have a bank one but not bank two. Number one looks like it may mean something but looking att he last picture, I'm certain I am not getting the correct info! What I would "think" it is telling me is that bank is not putting out any voltage but at the same time doing a bulk charge???
To me, the term "bulk charge" means things are working to the max to charge a battery quickly. But you can charge , certainly not to bulk charge, if there is no voltage to push those electrons!
That means what I see is not correct and I have to look for better info to understand what I'm missing or what the equipment is doing wrong!
If there is no bank two , what is it bulk charging? Too little idea of what it should be telling me!

All good. Ill try to do some more research on the manual and report back. Thanks for the advice!

I can see your battery voltage is at 13.2v so, I assume it's not fully charged as that would be 13.4v. But, you should be aware that even in bright sun if the battery is fully charged your charge controller will not do any charging.

It's common for folks to think that as long as there is sun on the panels they should be charging the battery.

But your Solar Charge Controller reduces output as your battery gets close to or at full charge to keep from overcharging the battery.

In other words... your charge controller controls the charging as designed.
