Disappointed in Winnebago

Twice we've asked Winnebago for help. Twice they have said, oh well, not our problem. Still waiting for Sharp to do something about the microwave. Been one day short of a week. It's my oven too.
Time is running out. We leave this campground in a few days.

Tell us more about the microwave. Apparently it failed or doesn't work. Is your coach still in warranty? What about your selling dealer?

We're in Ocala, Fl. We are from NY. The microwave groaned and died. I smelled a faint burning odor.
Sharp wants to order "parts". We would like a new one since this unit is only 3 1/2 mos. old. We are limited in calling around because of the cell phone minutes. By the time they get the parts to Ocala, we will be in Daytona.
We asked Winnebago to run interference for us. When the ref. died, we asked them for help about that too.
This unit has had several problems and Winnebago doesn't seem to give a darn.

I have a sharps that all the front numbers are out and when I was at forest city they were partially out but winne would not warrenty. It still works just cant read the time or setting

Carol, try calling your dealer in Syracuse. Tell them your predicament. They might be able to arrange a drop-shipment of a new microwave, and arrange return of the old one to their location. You would (unfortunately) have to install the new one, but it might work.

Maybe you could change your cell service plan and get more minutes. That would be cheaper than buying a new microwave.

Get one of the nationwide plans and there are no roaming charges.

Could there be a relationship between your problems, (boiled over batteries, too warm / cold refrigerator, and failed microwave) and the use of 30 amp services on your way to Florida and during your first week or so here?

I thought about that but SunCoast (we were there yesterday)didn't think the batteries had anything to do with the ref or microwave. The ref is going to have a recall on the part that was replaced. It was that wire thingy.
Got a call this morning from Winnebago. They are sending a new microwave to SunCoast at Coco Beach. Will get it swapped out next week.
Calling Syracuse ---- Meyer's?? That's a laugh.

C7C, If your coach is still under warrenty take it to the nearest Winnebago dealer. Tell them that you are away fram home, on vacation,and tell them to get a new microwave for you . The winnebago warranty states that it is to be sent within 24 hours. We had the same problem and it was replaced the next day even though Sharp didn't want to send it overnight. The dealer started to call Winnebago and Sharp agreed to overnight the new oven. I think that the dealer has a lot to do with the service that you are recieving. Good Luck, Indiana Journey

They refused to help yesterday afternoon.
Then I made my post here. They called this morning.
Someone at Winnebago must read the forum.

The batteries could very well have something to do with the fridge. Even though the heater for the Ammonia runs on either 120V AC or propane all the controls run on 12V DC. If you have an under voltage problem the system will shut down. An over voltage problem could burn out the control board.

Do you have any type of device to check the line voltage and polarity of the campground pedestal? We've been at a few over the years that had low voltage. Microwaves are sensitive and can be destroyed by running them on low voltage.

We use a tool called the Good Governor to check voltage, cycles, and polarity before we hook up. If there's any doubt we leave it plugged into an easily seen outlet so we can shut things down if the voltage gets out of range. There are other tools on the market that monitor voltage and automatically shut things down if they go out of spec.

Glad to hear Winnebago stepped up for you and hopefully you will be back on the road having fun in your new RV.

Hikerdogs makes a very good point about protecting your valuable electronic devices from electrical gremlins. If you have not already planned to do so, suggest you look into a good surge protector. Most will protect your rig from surges and also shut down your power when voltage is too low.

I second Smlrangers thought. A surge protector is low cost and easy to install. There are simply too many costly electronics in todays coaches not to protect them.

Yes, we have something plugged in that tells us the voltage coming into the unit. We also have some other kind of panel thing that puts out all kinds of readings.
I don't think the first site we were on here at this campground helped. Last time we looked, they hadn't put anyone on there. We've been off since Jan 10.
