I have a 05 Journey and gave my wife a dirt devil cental vac for Christmas. I am thinking about placing the unit in a basement compartment and run the hose to an outlet near the kitchen slideout. Does anybody have anyother suggestions?

Hi Md: I think that is a good location. Just ensure you have easy access to empty the bag. I saw one fella who installed his not thinking he would have to service it once in a while!

Md, what model Journey?

I have the 34H and mounted the vacuum in the 2nd bay in the basement (from the front passenger side)and ran the hose up under the dinette seat and installed the vacuum receptacle in the side wall of the dinette base against the refrigerator. Power was already there in the basement, so no problem.

Works great!

Here are some threads on the install of your Dirt Devil Sys that maybe helpful for you.

Mine was a factory install. The unit is located under the refrigerator where the hose will easily reach to either end of the 40' coach. There is also a hose connection in a storage bay close underneath the installed location so I can use it outside if desired.

Md,

Kudo's to you for giving your wife a vacuum cleaner for Christmas. I would not have survived to see December 26th, had I done that!

His wife may turn out to be like mine -- even without all that college & graduate school education I paid for after we were married, she can't figure out how to make the central vac work. So, guess who has to figure it out each time??

The males survival guide to giving a gift to a female:

a) Make sure it's expensive.

b) Make sure she can do NOTHING with it.

c) Make sure your friends will think you've lost your marbles purchasing such a thing.

If you follow these simple rules, she'll think you've somehow become a caring, sensitive guy even though she knows better.
