Diesel will not turn over and start

I got home with the Itasca Ellipse Diesel pusher. I shut it down and when I tried to start it again to put the jacks down the engine will not turn over.
As I turned the ignition to the start position the air horn honked. Waited and tried again. No joy.
Replaced the batteries and no change.
Anybody ever experienced this?

What year is your coach?

I would check the engine ground wire where it connects to the chassis. And then the positive connection.

You also have a few relays as part of your start circuit, but I'm guessing you have a ground problem.

The pictures below may or may not be representative of your start circuit.

Did you check your old batteries before you replaced them?

If you are capable, and feel lucky, you can alway try to bypass your starter relay, but you should be prepared to receive some sparks. The point is to locate your failed relay... if you don't fix your problem after making sure your positive and negative ground cables are ALL CLEAN AND IN GOOD SHAPE.

The coach is 2006.
The old batteries were installed in 2016 and needed replacing one way or the other.

The problem is a loose connection at the ignition switch.
All is up and running again.
Thank for your input.

For those who have a 10 year old + ignition switch that looks like this, you might consider replacing it to avoid problems down the road... which you know will occur at the worst possible time... causing you a lot of time and money if you need to tow your RV to a shop.

SUGGESTION: REPLACE YOUR IGNITION KEY SWITCH FOR LESS THAN $30
