First post ever on this forum so thank you in advance for all the help. I just noticed a cracked bracket mount on my 2108 micro mini. The 2 bolts that hold the bracket to the frame are flatheads and the inside nut is a rivet nut with absolutely no grip. I was wondering if anyone Knows how to take take those apart without taking a cut off wheel to the bolt.

Similar to drilling out a rivet..

Easiest method I found is to drill it out. Best to use new drill bits and drip some oil on them to improve the cutting. Start by center-punching as close to the center of the flat side of the huck bolt as you can get. Starting with 1/8" drill bit, drill a shallow hole into the bolt head. Switching to a drill bit that is slightly larger in diameter than the threaded portion of the huck bolt, drill into the previously drilled 1/8" hole until the head pops off.

Great advise Dewey thanks. What would the downside be to using a cuting disc to the flat head! Other that having to prime and paint the frame after.

Not sure about the outriggers, but the main frame members are powder coated, and if you live in an area where salted roads are the norm, you know the reality of powder coating, and that is if rust gets underneath that coating, it sheds in sheets.

Based on your pics, it's a tight area for a 5" or even a 4" angle grinder to work in. You could use a Dremel with a 1" cutting wheel, but that's a lot of wheels.

I opted for the drill out method. Worked for me.

You could try a cold chisel, and a dremel, if you can move the bolt with the cold chisel to greak it loose you can cut a slot in the head and remove the bolt with a screw driver! Oh, and put a dab of anti-seize on the protruding threads! I've also had decent success with reverse drill bits, also with anti-seize or penetrating oil!
