For the last several days, the CPU Aggressive pop-up ads are making it very awkward to type in dialog boxes on this forum. The 755 x 426 pixel size ads will not be paused, and I am typing blind until my keyboard buffer is allowed to populate the text.

I agree. I've passed my complaints on to the powers that be as well.

This is too much, too far. I encourage them to rethink this approach.

Ad-blocking browsers or extensions?

Not familiar with those ads. Are you using a browser with built-in ad blocking functionality (such as Brave), or one with readily-available extensions for ad blocking?

I use Brave and don't recall seeing any pop-up ads on this site.

I use an Ad Blocker on my desktop, but not on my iPad.

They just added new ads this past week and they are terrible. In your face, and slow loading. Plus they refresh and load again. This makes it very difficult to do my moderating work here.

I'll keep complaining... it's a bone-head move by them.

I use SeaMonkey to access Winnie Owners, and up until now I have not needed to use an ad blocker. I did a little checking around, and here is how you block all of the CPU Aggressive Pop-up Ads.
In SeaMonkey:
<Tools/Adblock Plus/Filter Preferences>
select <EasyList> <Enter>
I now see absolutely no ads, and everything is working quickly and without hesitation.
Groovy!

Looks like Brave is available for Apple mobile devices. It's worth a look.

I started using Brave several years ago. It's the default browser on all of our platforms - Windows desktops & laptops, Android phones and tablets. Very satisfied with it.
