We really like our 2016 Sunova 33c, but we are having major problems with our passenger side couch slide out. One of the gears had its teeth torn out in 2022 and we took it to our local rv place to be fixed. It worked great until this April, when the teeth once again were chewed off. With two men pushing, we were able to get the slide back into position. Once again it was fixed. This Thanksgiving those teeth in the newest gear were again chewed off. Has any one else had this problem. Is it a structural problem, or what clues can we give our RV place. Is it something that needs to go back to the Indiana factory. If so how do I arrange this repair. Thanks.

Not to say this is true but an option to consider may be the way the slide is moved.
We should always allow some time after the slide is fully in or out and keep the switch operated to let the two motors get synced after the slide stops moving.

May not be true for you at all but I had a bit of trouble explaining to my wife that it is NOT hard on things to hold the button a bit after it stops moving. She was worried about one thing while creating a different one!

The idea is that motors operate at different speeds and one can get behind the other, so they build in some "slack" and holding the button can let the slow one catch up so they are both aligned. But that does involved knowing which system you have.

Some depends on what year, etc. of RV and this may not be the same for your slide as it depends on brand and details.

Many Winnebago motorhomes have more than one slide type on their RV. So what type of slide mechanism are you referring to for the “Coach Slide.” Schwintec? PowerGear SlimRack? ThroughWall? Underfloor?

Each has different weaknesses or issues.

Schwintec slides were widely installed in the 2010-2017 time frame and they have been especially troublesome on large heavy full wall slides.

Give us more info and we may be able to provide help and suggestions.

This may be one that is hard to pin down without really getting into the build date as there are several different parts groups involved/ Looking at the parts catalog/drawings, there is the early and late year builds but then when looking at them, I also run into more questions.
Part of the problem is that the motors for the left front slide where I think the couch might be also get into confusing info.
There are changes shown as before 9-21-2014 or after? So how does that change relate to a 2016 model ? Kind of throws dirt on most any plan we might look at for ideas! Or maybe it says most any 2016 will have the later parts?
I get more questions than I get info on the idea of what system they would have!

The slide is on the passenger side and is the Power Gear slide out. It has two large gears under the motorhome. Thanks for the advice of Morich to hold the buttons in after the slide is fully in or out.

Replaced then Forgot

MY 2016 Sunova 33c had same issue last year - replaced and all seems fine. Your post got me to thinking again about the pressure on the gear and not on the guide roller next to it as I had to really muscle the whole motor/gearbox assembly to line up mounting bolts. Found a PDF which does show a couple of specs for the adjusting bolts. Will be checking mine when I get a chance. Don't know if it will help - Safe Travels PDF.View attachment Slideout parts diagram.pdf
