Carefree Awning Recall

Has anyone had the Winnebago View Awning Recall performed? We already had it in for one recall and then received notice of another one. In the meantime I had installed an on/off switch at the Circuit Breaker Panel eliminating power to the awning. Not crazy about bringing it back for another recall. Any input would be greatly appreciated. The latest recall consists of integrating the parking brake.

Yes, about a month ago. Did the brake wiring and replaced wind center. They also did SRS wiring fix and hitch stickers on our ‘20 View

Thanks Bruce. Any problems with the update? How long did it take them?

It works as it should. I also had them raise the rail to the recommended height.
They did all 3 recalls in one day.
I have not tried the awning with the e-brake off, I always have the brake on to put out the slide.

Bruce. I already had the first recall done where they checked the brake in the awning motor and reflashed it. Did they also check your awning motor brake or just install the parking brake relay?

I had the second recall addressed at the factory service center last week, along with a couple other items. I then drove close to 700 miles home without my "normal" Velcro straps securing the ends of the awning. I'm trying to overcome my AA...Awning Anxiety. So far, so good. Not sure if I'll ever be cured.

Then I am confused.
The recall I just had was 179 with part RC7917-24-779

On 5/2023 I had it inspected for recall 169. It was not needed because it “ has tube motor & won’t open with vehicle on, awning is as designed”
Looks like 169 needed kit RC7902-23-769

So, is there a recall after 179?

Be very careful with the second awning recall. There are dozens of horror stories of dealers being in way over their heads causing damage to the complex MB wiring systems. Chose a qualified dealer and not CW. Many are opting to go back to WB to have this done while I have chosen to add a manual disconnect switch in the awning wiring. What years of View/Navion are part of the recall? I have a 2020 with a Carefree awning, but no recall that I am aware of. The motor was replaced in 2021, but it no longer works.

Here are instructions for round two of the awning recall. Perhaps its my bad luck with dealers getting things right on the first or third try that causes me to shy away this work being done locally.

I am 15 miles from Carefree of Colorado, so I may try to take it there.

Fanrgs, I do look forward to hearing how you make out speaking with CF. In all likelihood Carefree will not be willing to discuss the issue. From my understanding of the problem, recall two is a result of WBO not installing safety features during the initial construction. I've also read other user who have contacted CF, CF had declined to discuss the mater.
