Recently, the black tab that pulls down the shade on our screen door has broken. I've searched the web and can't seem to find the part. Sorry about the lousy quality of the pic - hubby tried to punch a hole in one half of it to just use that but it didn't work. We can "McGyver" something to work but would prefer a similar tab.

You'll probably have to replace the entire shade, if you don't want a McGyver fix. I've NEVER seen shade parts available anywhere.

Could you cut an old leather belt (or something similar) and punch a hole in it?
Exactly. This isn't rocket science. Punch or drill a hole in a piece of leather, plastic or rubber, and either rivet or screw it in place. Done!
Or you could get creative and use a loop of cord or a hook or any number of other things.

I have yet to find a source for parts other than to replace the shade. Just about anything like a scrap of leather, black plastic stair tread, etc should do the job just fine. I have a cracked endcap on mine that I am going to try and JB weld back together. IIRC, a replacement shade is in the $90 range.

This is one of those where DIY has to be considered. I've always been kind of disappointed in the small size of those tabs and thought bigger to grip would be fine.

Have someone 3 d print it. Many colleges have labs you can use once you take a class and have the printers and computers to use. People are very helpful in getting you started
