Black Spots on the roof

Car roofs get that way too if not cleaned for a long time, especially if parked under trees. I think is a combination of sap, dirt and whatever. When I let my roof go too long, I had to scrub it on my hands and knees. Using a scrub brush/broom from a standing postition only got about 50% off. Scrubbing on hands and knees got probably 98% or so off.

If it's pine tree sap use creamy peanut butter. Rub some on the spot and let it soak in about 30 min to an hour. The peanut oil desolves the pine pitch, really! It works on awnings too...

While your waiting make a sandwhich and have lunch!

Put 2 cups of bleach in a 2 gallon pump spray and lightly spray the complete top of the roof. Be careful not to get it to run down the sides. Wait about 20 minutes in the shade and then use the water hose and wash it down real good.

Next, get a bucket of soap and water and wash/brush the top to remove any left over bleach. Let it dry in the sun. It will come out like new.

I did mine twice so far, and it is clean and white. Works for me........

Well thanks for the input so far. Its not tree sap.The motorhome is not parked upder trees at home, and only a few days at a time when camping. This is after a 17000 mile trip and only washing the roof once during that trip. Its a diesel and I think it come up from the exhaust.

Thanks

Similar to the bleach cleaning, in the past I used Soft Scrub Gel with bleach. It worked good on cleaning the black mold that forms on the roof seals. Dollar General has there brand of it too. Can control it better than bleach in water.
