Better A/C Cooling in 2021 NAVION

Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement Air Conditioner for 2021 NAVION? I would like to get more cooling than the existing GE offers.
Thanks
Mike Day

Certainly there are other A/C units available today that may be quieter and or more efficient. But keep in mind the limitations of cooling an RV.

On the Facebook View/Navion group site I see others suggesting the Furion Chill and Houghton RV A/C from RecPro. I have the Truma Aventa in my 2026 View 24R and find that it works very well and is much quieter than previous Colman-Mach units on my previous RVs.

Just installed the Furrion 18K BTU Chill Cube in our 2021V Navion. . The Coleman was 15K BTU. The Furrion has no heat. We rather use the furnace. The Coleman unit was like a freight train running while the Furrion is so quiet. Our weather has been cool to almost cold here in eastern PA so I have yet to see it really working in summer heat. Easy install, about two hours.

Mike, I see that you are in SW Utah. We live in Denver, have a son in Las Vegas, and snowbird in AZ-NM south of I-10. When the factory Coleman-Mach heat pump-AC on our 2020 Navion had a literal meltdown several years ago, I replaced it with 12v TurboKool evaporative cooler.

We have had only a big swamp cooler on our house for 50 years and it keeps a us cool all summer due to our low humidity. Some houses in your area undoubtedly have them too. Our cost for electricity in summer is about 10% of the cost for neighbors with compressor units. The same applies to the TurboKool, but, since it is 12v and uses <5A-hrs on its highest speed, we can run it all day when boondocking and dry camping off our solar and Li batteries. It does require water from our 30-gallon fresh water tank, but we seldom boondock more the 2-3 nights in one location, so the small FW tank size hasn't been a problem. And one of its great features is that it weighs 36# compared to 90# for the Coleman-Mach. Combined with the Li battery weight being 1/2 that of the two AGM batteries we replaced, we have added about 120# of additional cargo capacity. Every little bit helps!

I have a 2018 Winnebago View J with oem Airxcel Coleman-Mach 10 HP. I just replaced the oem unit with a Turbro Greenland HP 13.5kBtu, price $1099. The new unit is not ducted but it is a straight forward replacement. The new unit will run off my 4 x 100ah Lionenergy lithium batteries via my Victron Inverter/Charger 3K Multiplus. The power consumption using the HP varies from about 500wh to 800wh.

I have a 2020 Navion with a Coleman AC and we live in Florida. The Coleman has been adequate for the two of us, but I have been considering a mod to the ducting produced by "KOOLRV A/C Connect" which eliminates the large central diffuser and routes all the cool air through the small individual outlets in the ceiling. They claim this to be much more efficient. Less expensive compared to replacing the Coleman. Just a suggestion.

We had fabricated a diffuser to sit inside following the KOOLRV product for our our stock Coleman Mack10 15K heat pump. The duct diffuser did reduce some of the noise and does move the air in to the rooftop air ducts. The roof of the Navion / View units is roughly 3 1/2". If the sun is baking the roof of the RV the internal air ducts are heating up also. So the KoolRV diffuser will work better at night but may actually reduce the cooling output of the AC if your in the direct sun. With the ducted option on the Furrion Chill Cube you can open or close the the air flow output to allow the chilled air to exit as a downdraft or push some in to the duct system of your RV. 2021V

That's interesting and I hadn't heard of that feature before. I'm considering the Chill Cube, but I'm waiting to see what new units hit the market this year. Rumor has it that Coleman is coming out with a variable-speed compressor model to compete with the Chill Cube and others like it.
