Awning Lights (2021 Spirit 22M)

The LED strip on the awning has about half of the LEDs non-functioning. (Possibly previous owner had them powered while awning was stowed, increasing potential for heat damage)

In any case, has anyone had experience replacing or upgrading this light strip?

Okay, progress update: I've looked online and found some 12-volt LED strips that look like they may have promise. In particular, this one looks interesting:

It's 16 feet long and the awning is about 14½, but it can be cut to length, with marked cut lines every two inches or so.

It's been raining for two days, but I'm going to investigate further and see how big of a hassle it would be to get the old one out and a new one in.

Repair is usually easier than replace, so I would start with looking at what is wrong with the exisiting! That may require taking them out and tracing out the wiring to find how they were built. For the case where half are out and half working, I would have to look at that part of the design as they can be built different ways, dependins on how much they wanted to put into making them last. There are lots of ways and some save initial cost but with the downside of setting up a situation where one LED failing can then set off a chain of all that half failing , bang, bang, bang!
My first thought would be to find how they worked before failing!

You may want to do some study on how to wire LED lights for things like aquariums as it is a pretty common thing when folks want specific lighting for planted tanks to grow best.
I find fixing is easier than designing from scratch!

Some of the awning manufacturers sell replacement light strips. On the ones I have dealt with the LEDs are usually encased in a plastic housing that either slides in the groove or is attached with some sort of adhesive tape.

I never did like the placement of the awning lites in our 22M. You have to extend the awning fully to utilize the lites. On our Travatos, the light strip was against the van body, so if you only wanted to extend the awning 1/2 way, you could use the lights. Also the switch for the awning lights is right next to another light switch, so I can see how it could be left in the ON position.
