Hi, I have a Blue Ox BX 4325 Tow bar and the spring went bad in one of the arms. I ordered a whole new latch assembly for it. Blue ox instructions say that I need a special installation tool for the spring. My question is - Do I really need the install tool? Has anyone done this without it? If so, any tips on doing so?

Thanks!

Hi sprdoorman,
Yes, I had to replace one also. And the tool costs more than the parts. I was lucky to have the shop where I can service offer to try it. And they did it, although it took a while with 2 guys working with the unit on the counter. I wish I could explain what the hard part was, but I don't remember. But the shop guys did figure how to do it...without the tool. It might make it easier, but it was, I think, almost $100 for the tool. It can be done without it, yes.
Good luck, BajaSoon
