Is it true that the oil in all these engines should be change annually regardless of miles or hours?

Diesel or gasoline.

Anyone gone with just miles or hours successfully?

I recall reading a while back that Ford mandated that oil be changed every 6 months or 5000 miles on the F53 to keep the warranty valid. I stuck with that and have had no warranty problems. Never have used the hours other than to observe the number of hours and said Gee wiz. Being that an RV engine replacement is so expensive I have not deviated from the 6 mo/5K formula. I change the genny oil and filter once a year or 150 hours whichever comes first. On my cars I do the 6 month 5K miles like the motorhome.

I am far from an expert and even less of a mechanic when it comes to engines or chasse related items.
With that said be it right or wrong my engine and gen. oil & filters get changed once a year. My coach gets driven between 5-10 thousand miles a year, so I fit into that once a year time frame. My shop in Branson also does a complete chasse go over looking for items that need attention. Upkeep and safety are my prime concerns with the older coach.

Not sure what official reccomendations are but I change oil/filers annually on my Journey. Also service air dryer and air filters at the same time.

I just use mileage and hours. The new synthetic oils like Mobil 1 (0W-40) are very stable.

Exactly this. I use Mobil-1 full synthetic in all my gas vehicles, and Rotella T6 full synthetic in my Dodge truck. I change it between 8 and 10,000 miles, no matter if that takes one year or two or three.

I change my oil and filter along with other filters, lube chassis, etc. once a year on my deisel Engine and generator on my coach. We usually put about 5- 6,000 a year on it.

Location can have a lot to do with it. Moisture can accumulate, but can be burned off with regular long runs which is what a motorhome or tow vehicle generally does. Here is what Blackstone Labs says about age:

The below was my experience and practice.

Coach (gas): Oil change every 3,000 to 5,000 miles, or about once a year
Toad: Oil change every 5,000 miles (on the odometer)
Generator: Never changed (generators on both coaches run for 15 to 25 hours per year)

Other considerations:
Coach: Brake fluid change once in 20,000 miles to eliminate water in the lines
Toad: Transmission fluid change by actual mileage (odometer plus towing miles)

Oil cheap, engines expensive,

Coach - Annually which is typically around 3k-4K miles. Full synthetic.
Genset - Annually, which is typically around 10-15 hours.

We don’t tow so our cars are usually as indicated by the onboard oil monitor,
