My water heater on propane was making quite a roar (i.e., louder than a generator!) so I finally decided to do something about it rather than shut it off. I found it needed adjustment. Lots of adjustment. The venturi was absolutely wide open as I read I should expect. Why on earth they'd deliver it that way is beyond me. I closed it up to about 1/4th opening where it was just turning from blue to aqua. Is that too lean on air?
Still, it isn't quite enough. With the cover open it seems rather stable even with wind gusts, but when I close the cover it will somewhat randomly go into "blower mode" and make a ton of noise. There's a little circular window in the door and I can see the flame didn't seem to change color.
I did try my best to center the nozzle/flame (sorry, I don't know the terminology) but that didn't seem to make a difference better or worse. It was slightly off center to the front of the TT and low.
