Adding Gauges??

Has anyone ever added gauges to your existing gauge cluster? I am interested in adding a tranny temp gauge, and possible a boost and EGT gauge. I have not checked with Freightliner or Cummins yet, just wanted to check for any experiences here first. Thanks, Sarge

I would think that adding guages would not be a problem at all, provided you have room to mount the guages. Can't think of anything that would be harmed by it at all.

I was more thinking of the challenge of running the connections all the way from the rear motor to the front dash. Especially for a boost probe.....

Hey Sarge,

Rather than going through all the trouble to install an analog tranny temp gauge that is difficult to read, does not tell you the exact temp, and is probably not calabrated correctly, why not install a TripTech. Yes, it will cost a little more than the analog temp gauge but it will be easier to install plus give you a whole lot more information that I have found very useful.

If not the TripTech then think about the VMS software system to run on your notebook PC. It is somewhat less money and tells you the same thing only in color.

Just a thought.

Good advice Adrian. I don't know about the installation, but I really like using the Trip Tech.
Watch the engine temp in degrees, Tranny and Turbo.
Mpg , miles traveled etc..a great feature to have and I am sure the VMS will do the same...Good Miles

That is a possibility Adrian. I saw the Trip Tech section in the owners manual. Lots of features, but did not know what the price break down would be. I may check into it for grins..
